The prevalence of dentoalveolar injuries in children is approximately 25%, with falls from own height being one of the main etiologies. Diagnosis is based on the clinical evaluation associated with complementary imaging tests. The treatment of choice depends on the type of damage and structure affected. For alveolar process fractures, closed reduction and semi-rigid dental splinting for 4 to 6 weeks is generally satisfactory. However, some cases, such as severe segmental fractures, require open treatment to ensure adequate reduction and stabilization of the displaced alveolar segment, which is usually achieved by titanium miniplates and screws. Nevertheless, there are situations where this type of fixation is not possible, requiring alternative methods. Therefore, this article describes a surgical technique performed by open reduction, associating semi-rigid dental splint and circummandibular wiring in pediatric patient diagnosed with dentoalveolar fracture through clinical examination (with bone fracture displacement) and tomography. The technique promoted a good prognostic to the patient, proving to be a viable alternative for treating dentoalveolar fractures.

The talus is the second most common fractured tarsal bone. While their incidence may be low, talus fractures are severe injuries that can lead to long-term disability and pain. Displaced talar body fractures are typically treated through an open approach with the aim of obtaining anatomic reduction and stable fixation. There are several case reports in the literature demonstrating successful management of talus fractures arthroscopically. An arthroscopic approach minimizes soft tissue trauma, which can help decrease postoperative wound complications and infections. In this article, the authors describe a surgical technique of an arthroscopic reduction and internal fixation of a comminuted posterior talar body fracture. Compared with an open posterior approach with or without osteotomies, an arthroscopic technique improved visualization and allowed precise reduction and fixation. Abstract Mucinous cystadenoma is a rare tumor of appendix it accounts for only 0.4% of the gastrointestinal tract malignancies and is reported rarely in literature. Therefore the surgical management is not yet established. Here we report a case of a 65 year old female who presented with a dragging sensation and a feeling of mass in right iliac fossa. Her computed tomography (CT) suggested an abscess formation of the parietal peritoneum. She was planned for laparotomy and upon exploration a mass was found arising from tip of retroperitoneal appendix. Whole of the appendix was studded with mucoid material. Limited right hemicolectomy was performed and histopathology of appendix showed mucinous cystadenoma with no evidence of malignant changes. Patient remained uneventful and was discharged on 4th post operative day. <p class="abstract"><span lang="EN-US">Lingual Thyroid is a rare developmental anomaly. It is the most common benign mass found at the junction of the anterior two third and the posterior one third of the tongue. It requires to be excised if it becomes symptomatic by becoming a goiter. It is usually treated medically by thyroxin suppression therapy. However, in cases where the response to medical treatment is poor, it can be excised or transposed. Gluteal protuberance as a first symptom of branched pilonidal sinus with anal fistula – case report

The authors present the case of a patient who underwent a surgery due to a branched pilonidal sinus with branching to anal sphincters and a purulent cistern in the left buttock. The lesion was diagnosed accidentally. The patient’s main ailments were non-specific buttock pains experienced for several months, which were followed by periodic febrile states. Advanced diagnostics of this region was planned and carried out. The patient was qualified for Bascom II procedure with simultaneous excision of the anal fistula tract and opening of the left buttock fluid cistern. No complications were observed in the postoperative course. The follow-up after 2 months showed no recurrence. The authors emphasize the fact that the lesions of the gluteal cleft are difficult to diagnose, diagnosed late and often asymptomatic. Proper diagnostics and proper surgical technique allow for complete cure.
