The combined experimental and theoretical investigation of the magnetic properties of [Co(CH2SiMe3)2(IPr)] (1), [CoCl2(IMes)2] (2) revealed a large easy plane anisotropy for 1 and a moderate easy axis anisotropy for 2.

Three novel heterometallic compounds [CuII3LnIII2] [Ln = Ho (1), Dy (2) and Gd (3)] containing mixed organic ligands were obtained. 1 and 2 show slow magnetic relaxation behaviour.
