After the carbon neutral target is proposed, China’s new energy will usher in a leapfrog development, and its volatility and randomness put forward higher requirements for the flexibility of the power system. Energy storage has strong flexible adjustment capabilities. With the continuous improvement of technology and economy in recent years, it has been promoted and applied in all aspects of the power system, and its value in improving system flexibility is gradually reflected. This paper satisfy the power balance system and new energy given perspective, aiming at the lowest cost of power supply, regional energy storage size optimization model is put forward, with a actual regional power grid as an example, has carried out empirical research, quantitative analysis of correlation between the development of new energy and energy storage scale and verify the model is scientific and accurate.

Greece has a large number of islands that are isolated from the main interconnected Greek power system; however, a majority of them are to be interconnected in the mainland grid over the next decade. A large number of these islands present a significant amount of wind and solar potential. The nature of load demand and renewable production is stochastic; thus, the operation of such isolated power systems can be improved significantly by the installation of a large-scale energy storage system. The role of storage is to compensate for the long and short-term imbalances between power generation and load demand. Pumped hydro storage (PHS) systems represent one of the most mature technologies for large-scale energy storage. However, their advantages have not been proven in practice for cases of medium and small-sized isolated insular systems. Regarding Greece, which contains a large number of isolated insular systems, a PHS system in the island of Ikaria started its test operation in 2019, whereas in Europe only one PHS system operates in El Hierro (Canary Islands). This paper studies the effect of installing a wind-PHS hybrid power station in the operation of the insular power system of Samos, Greece, according to the latest regulatory framework. The implemented analysis uses real hourly data for a whole year, and examines the effects of such an installation considering investors’ and power system operators’ viewpoints. More specifically, the economic viability of this project under different billing scenarios is compared, and its impact on the insular power system operation for various PHS sizes is examined.

Nowadays, haze has become a big trouble in our society. One of the significant solutions is to introduce renewable energy on a large scale. How to ensure that power system can adapt to the integration and consumption of new energy very well has become a scientific issue. A smart generation control which is called hierarchical and distributed control based on virtual wolf pack strategy is explored in this study. The proposed method is based on multiagent system stochastic consensus game principle. Meanwhile, it is also integrated into the new win-lose judgment criterion and eligibility trace. The simulations, conducted on the modified power system model based on the IEEE two-area load frequency control and Hubei power grid model in China, demonstrate that the proposed method can obtain the optimal collaborative control of AGC units in a given regional power grid. Compared with some smart methods, the proposed one can improve the closed-loop system performances and reduce the carbon emission. Meanwhile, a faster convergence speed and stronger robustness are also achieved.

With rapid development of renewable generator, Application of storage plays important role in improving energy efficiency. At first different kinds requirement of storage is analysed with detail case in paper. The trend of storage for future is Prospect. Then demand of new energy for power system is analysed and calculated. A decomposition model for Energy storage for renewable power generation is established. Some suggestion will be given for energy storage for GuangDong power gird co.Ltd.

Recently, more and more people realize the importance of environment protection. Electric power generation systems using renewable energy sources have an advantage of no greenhouse effect gas emission. Among all the choices, wind power can offer an economic and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional methods of power supply. As a result, wind energy generation, utilization and its grid penetration in electrical grid is increasing world wide. The wind generated power is always fluctuating due to its time varying nature and causing stability problem. Inserting energy storage system into large scale wind farm to eliminate the fluctuation becomes a solution for developing large scale renewable energy system connected with grid. The topology diagram and control strategy are presented in this paper. According to the simulation result, it could be indicated that embedding energy storage system into wind power system could improve the access friendly and extend system functions. This paper shows that integrating energy storage system into wind power system will build a more reliable and flexible system for power grid.
