The Common

The ecological planning method of land use in the urban overall planning is discussed here. Based on the brief analysis of the common thoughts on ecology in today’s front planning ideas, this paper analyzes the ecological effects of clear space frame and scientific function mixture in the land use planning as well as the urban environmental contradictions which can be solved by the ecological planning method. In addition, a planning method of ecological land-use which is deep, detailed and practical in overall planning will be discussed.

Biology contains many examples of deployable structures. They can be grouped as planar, cylindrical, stiff and compliant, and space frame combining both stiff and compliant elements (ten-segrity structures). Deployment occurs due to high strain elastic materials, or folds and curves that can be actuated by springs, changes in shape (mediated by hydraulic or contractile mechanisms) or changes in stiffness. Evolution filters out inefficiency. Transfer of nature's technology requires understanding of the optimizations in the biological system. The concepts can then be used in aerospace, deployable camouflage, packaging, emergency shelters, capture systems, etc.

Abstract For an n x m real matrix A the matrix A⊥ is defined as a matrix spanning the orthocomplement of the column space of A, when the orthogonality is defined with respect to the standard inner product ⟨x, y⟩ = x'y. In this paper we collect together various properties of the ⊥ operation and its applications in linear statistical models. Results covering the more general inner products are also considered. We also provide a rather extensive list of references
