Centralized management and sharing of manufacturing resources is one of the important functions of cloud manufacturing platform. There are many kinds of manufacturing resources, centralized management, optimized scheduling, quick searching for various manufacturing resources become important issues in a cloud manufacturing platform. This paper presents a resource management model based on metadata to realize the access and unified management of the hardware resources, software resources and knowledge resources. Two management approaches respectively for static and dynamic resource data are introduced to realize resource state monitoring and real-time information collecting. On this basis, the relationship between static and dynamic data is determined and service-oriented of resources is realized.

Based on the concept of Cloud Computing, Cloud Manufacturing which refers to a new networked manufacturing mode is proposed by LI Bo-hu. In this new mode, virtual resources are organized to meet the requirements of various manufacturing services for users over network and Cloud Manufacturing platform. This paper focuses on the virtualization of resources and analyses the factors which affect the classification of virtual resources in Cloud Manufacturing first, and a conceptual classification is given. Then some factors affect the result of task assignment are introduced, and a simple example shows the effect of these factors to task assignment. Based on these factors which include quantitative, human activity, logistics and granularity, a modeling process and a rough model of virtual resource are built.

Cloud manufacturing is a new manufacturing paradigm in which manufacturing resources and capabilities offered by different enterprises are provided as cloud-based services over the Internet. In addition to the cloud manufacturing platform, enterprises as resource providers are also essential part of a cloud manufacturing system as customer orders that are submitted to the cloud platform will ultimately need to be dispatched to enterprises’ production sites for execution. So far, however, issues concerning enterprises in cloud manufacturing has attracted little attention of researchers, and the most frequently mentioned issue in existing research that are concerned with enterprises is how to connect enterprises’ resources to the cloud infrastructure. This, to a large extent, hinders the development and implementation of cloud manufacturing as the lack of research on enterprises fails to uncover the requirements for enterprises in cloud manufacturing (i.e. Cloud Manufacturing Enterprises, CMEs), and thus enterprises have no reference for evaluating the changes that need to be made to adopt this new manufacturing paradigm. This paper focuses on this important issue and conducts a preliminary exploration on CMEs. We first analyze the requirements for CMEs, and then discuss some critical issues with CMEs in detail, including enterprise information systems, enterprise architecture, and enterprise modeling.

The manufacturing services and resources matching are a key issue in building of the cloud manufacturing platform. This paper presents an ontology based service matching approach, which introduces QoS information to improve the accuracy of matching. The SVD method is used to recover unknown QoS data. The experimental results show that the algorithm can effectively improve the quality of service matching.
