We present measurements of identified charged hadron production over a wide momentum range using the SLD Cherenkov Ring Imaging Detector. In addition to studying flavor-inclusive Z0 decays, we compare particle production in decays into light, c and b flavors and compare production in gluon jets with that in light quark jets, where the jet flavors are selected using precision vertex information.

The conventional color-singlet model was challenged by the recent data on quarkonium production. Discrepancies in production rates were observed at the Tevatron, at LEP, and in fixed-target experiments. The newly advocated color-octet mechanism provides a plausible solution to the anomalous quarkonium production observed at the Tevatron. The color-octet mechanism should also affect other quarkonium production channels. In this paper we will summarize the studies of quarkonium production in Z0 and ϒ decays.

We discuss the power scaling rules along the lines of a complete heavy quark effective field theory (HQEFT) for the description of heavy quarkonium production through a color-octet mechanism. To this end, we firstly derive a tree-level heavy quark effective Lagrangian keeping both particle–antiparticle mixed sectors allowing for heavy quark–antiquark pair annihilation and creation, but describing only low-energy modes around the heavy quark mass. Then we show the consistency of using HQEFT fields in constructing four-fermion local operators à la NRQCD, to be identified with standard color-octet matrix elements. We analyze some numerical values extracted from charmonia production by different authors and their hierarchy in the light of HQEFT.

BESIII has collected [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text], which are the world’s largest data samples of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] from [Formula: see text] collision. Radiative decays of charmonium provide a gluon-rich environment and are therefore regarded as one of the most promising hunting grounds for gluonic excitations. Significant progresses in the light-quark sector have been made with the unprecedented high statistics data sets. Several recent results on light hadron spectroscopy and light hadron decays will be reported, including: 1, the observation of the anomalous line shape of [Formula: see text] near [Formula: see text] mass threshold and related studies; 2, studies of glueballs in [Formula: see text] radiative decays; 3, search for [Formula: see text] exotic in [Formula: see text].
