The main achievements presented in this paper are developed method orientated on computer aiding and computer program method, both used in designing process of the new technical features. Analyzed methods develop algorithmisation of selection features and support integration with the process of the preparation of the production. Further analyses will be carried on in order to specify the theory of the technological similarity in the new forms of computer aiding (relational databases). The represented programs were being developed on the practical examples of creating the module systems of hydraulic cylinders used in mining, slag cars used in metallurgy and gears series of types. Programs and data bases presented in the paper are basis of selection of the technological features in the process series of types of the technology creating. All of these applications support the intensive development of the types of technical features and affect on their competitive on the ready market.

Reverse engineering has become the one of the most relevant concepts in modern design doctrines. Advances in technology demand shorter lead time in the overall product development stage, especially in the automobile sector. Hence as a study in reverse engineering, the author has reverse engineered a twin tube shock absorber. The process involved the obtaining of subassemblies of the damper mechanism to generate a 3D CAD model of the damper in PTC CREO 2.0. The model was used to conduct static structural and CFD analysis of the same using ANSYS 15.0 Workbench. The data obtained was used as the datum for the design modifications and performance enhancement of the part. It was seen that the design of the piston valve was optimum hence modifications to the base valve were done. Following the generation of the datum, similar analyses were conducted on the modified assemblies. The results were compared to the datum for the selection of the most appropriate design. Four designs are analyzed and compared with the datum and the set with four orifices in the valve disk was found to be optimum.

Reverse engineering, which is an approach for constructing a CAD model from a material solid through dimensional measurement and surface modeling, could be used to structure digitized tooth surfaces of hypoid gear. The reverse engineering of a NURBS tooth surface can be considered as specific number of curve's reverse solution, and the key is the structure of control equations and the selection of boundary conditions in each of reverse processes. According to NURBS theory, the coordinate, normal vector and various kinds of curvatures of all of points in the tooth surface can be solved. Thereupon, the engagement analysis of gear pairs can be achieved before manufacturing, and it is possible to amend manufacturing parameters in time so as to obtain tooth surfaces which meet the needs of function.
