ABSTRACTDirect, point-by-point inscription of fiber Bragg gratings by infrared femtosecond laser is reported. Using this technique, highly reflective gratings can be rapidly inscribed in standard, untreated fiber. Thermal studies demonstrate increased thermal stability compared to the UV-inscribed gratings.
