Thermal-wave experiments on moving samples
Keyword(s):
Thermal-wave propagation has been observed on moving samples. Motion of a solid causes a shift of the transmitted thermal wave from which (similar to time-of-flight arrangements) the wave velocity can be determined. Rotation of the sample gives rise to synchronization effects on spatial temperature distributions. Motion of subsurface liquid affects thermal-wave propagation along the surface. Applications of the results are in the field of thermal-wave imaging and remote monitoring of motion and flow.
