A new species of Anthurium (A. mucuri E.G.Gonç. & L.F.A. de Paula) is described and illustrated. It occurs in rocky outcrops (inselbergs) in Minas Gerais state, Southeastern Brazil and it is so far know from a restricted area around the city of Teófilo Otoni. It seems to be closer to Anthurium viridispathum E.G.Gonç., but differs mainly in having smaller overall dimensions, a much narrower leaf blade and spathe and for the spathe that is glaucous in the inner surface. Anthurium mucuri is placed in the section Urospadix Engl. subsection Obscureviridia Engl.

Microvelia joceliae Magalhães & Moreira, sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on material from Parque Natural Municipal das Andorinhas, Minas Gerais State, in southeastern Brazil. The new species can be distinguished from congeners occurring in the region by the pronotum of the apterous form covering almost the entire thorax dorsally, proepisternum with black denticles, male abdominal segments V–VII ventrally depressed, shape of the asymmetrical parameres, and female abdominal laterotergites reflected over the mediotergites and almost touching over segments V–VII.

An illustrated checklist of the species of Bromeliaceae from the Serra do Cabral, Minas Gerais state, southeastern Brazil is presented, including 20 species in 11 genera from three subfamilies. Subfamilies Tillandsioideae and Bromelioideae each contain eight species, which mainly inhabit rocky fields. Tillandsia is the most diverse genus, with six species. Subfamily Pitcairnioideae contains four species, including Dyckia spinulosa, as well as Dyckia oscari, a new species described and illustrated herein.

At present, 13 species of Hyalella are recorded from Brazilian hydrographic basins. A new species of the genus was foundin the municipality of Arcos, Minas Gerais state and it is described here. Curved seta on inner ramus of male uropod 1,posterior margin of gnathopod 2 propodus shorter than palm, telson longer than wide are some of the diagnostic charatctersof this new species. The articles of maxillipod palp and propodus of gnathopod 2 are elongated as observed in H.longistila, but the new species differs from it because of the curved seta on uropod 1. Despite being large and diverse group, Hyalellais represented only by two species in the state of Minas Gerais (Southeastern Brazil), H. warminig and H. gracilicornis. The distribution of H. longistila, previously recorded in Rio de Janeiro state, was extended to Minas Gerais state. Thiswork, therefore, contributes for the knowledge of Amphipoda fauna from Brazil, describing a new species and providing a key to the species identification. From this work, the number of Hyalella species found in Brazil to 14.

Here, we describe and illustrate Plinia delicata, a new species from rocky outcrops from the southeastern Brazilian states of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. The new species is related to Plinia pseudodichasiantha, from which it is distinguished mainly through the smaller leaves and longer bracteoles.

A new species ofDikrellais described and figured based on specimens from Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil. The new species is diagnosed by the process of pygofer and the general form of aedeagus. Adult males, females, and also nymphs were found on pequi tree, suggesting thatDikrella caryocarn. sp. has its full life cycle in this plant.

A new species of the Neotropical genus Agalliota Oman is described and illustrated from southeastern Brazil (Minas Gerais State). Agalliota maculata sp. nov. can be distinguished by its longitudinal pronotal stripes, anal tube processes, and aedeagus shape. With the addition of the new taxon, the number of Agalliota species is increased to eight, seven of them occurring in Brazil. A key to the known species of the genus is provided. Notes on the distinction between Agalliota and Agallia Curtis are given.

A new species of Calea sect. Calea, endemic to the rocky grasslands of the municipality of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil, is described. Calea diamantinensis is morphologically similar to Calea lantanoides which differs by its leaf blade elliptic (vs. ovate to widely ovate), margin entire and straight (vs. crenate and revolute), surface solely glandular-punctuated (vs. villous), receptacle paleae obtrullate (vs. narrowly elliptic), capitulescence composed by 3–4 heads (vs. 6–12 heads), cypselae glandular-punctuated ca. 2.7–3 mm long (vs. non-glandular, ca. 1.8–2.5 mm long) and pappus scales ca. 15–17 (vs. 20–25). Illustration, photos, distribution map, habitat considerations and conservation status are provided, as well as an identification key for Calea species from the municipality of Diamantina, Minas Gerais.

Soaresia forficula sp. nov. is described from the Mantiqueira Mountain Range, Minas Gerais State, southeastern Brazil. The genus Soaresia H. Soares, 1945 previously included only Soaresia uncina H. Soares, 1945, hitherto recorded only from the type locality, Penedo, Rio de Janeiro State, in the same mountain range. A second record of S. uncina is given from a nearby locality, Serrinha do Alambari. The combined distribution of the species of Soaresia is restricted to elevations between 700 and 1300 m, in the Tropical & Subtropical Moist Broadleaf Forests biome. An emended diagnosis of the genus is given and complements are given to the description of S. uncina, including the first illustrations and description of the male genitalia.
