A new taxon belonging to the genus Burmeistera (Campanulaceae, Lobelioideae) is described from El Quimi Biological Reserve in Morona Santiago Province, southeast Ecuador. Burmeistera quimiensis is characterized by its red-violet stems and veins, spiral phyllotaxy, bullate, ascending leaves with a revolute margin, puberulous abaxial leaf surface, cupuliform hypanthia, and thick-walled white to red-violet fruits with reflexed pedicels. Photos of the new species are given, as well as a distribution map of known collection localities, and its relationships with other species are discussed.

Abstract—We present a new species, Turnera fasciculifolia, from the Jalapão region, the largest continuous protected area of Cerrado in Tocantins State, in central Brazil. The new species belongs to Turnera series Leiocarpae, and it can be recognized by the linear ericoid leaves with revolute margin, generally without extrafloral nectaries, and the basal leaves of the young axillary branches gathered in fascicles. We provide a description, illustrations, a distribution map, and a comparison with T. genistoides and T. revoluta, which also have ericoid leaves.

Paris lihengiana (Melanthiaceae), a new species from Yunnan Province, China, is described and illustrated based on evidence from morphological characters and molecular phylogeny. It differs from other species of Paris in its pubescent stem, pedicel and abaxial leaf surface, as well as other characters. Molecular phylogenetic analysis of 33 taxa in Paris was conducted based on nuclear ribosomal ITS and six plastid markers. Paris lihengiana is supported as a new species by both morphological characters and molecular data.

Werneria lanatifolia is described as a new species from the central Andes. It is a minute plant characterized by a lanate indumentum on the adaxial leaf surface and involucre. The new species is compared with the morphologically closest taxa and useful characters for its proper identification are provided. Detailed pictures of living plants, a distribution map, and a dichotomous key including the species allied to W. lanatifolia are also presented.

Recent botanical explorations in Sierra Madre Occidental in Durango, Mexico, led to the discovery of a new species which according to its morphology belongs to Salvia sect. Brandegeia. The new taxon is morphologically most similar to S. oresbia from central Mexico, against which it is thoroughly compared. Additionally, it is presented a synopsis of the section in order to provide updated and standardized descriptions for those species known only in base to their protologues, which allows a more detailed and precise comparison in respect to the new species. The morphological examination of the species in the section also revealed that the recognition of S. sharpii as a distinct species from S. blepharophylla is not justified; consequently, it is reduced to synonymy. An identification key, a distribution map, photographs, and a drawing of the new species are also presented.

We present a description of the new species Rhynchostegium occultum from central Chile, including illustrations, a distribution map, and preliminary molecular data that supports its taxonomic placement. The new taxon is restricted to coastal relict forests of central Chile. An overview of the Chilean taxa of Rhynchostegium, and a key for local species are also provided. The new combination Rhynchostegium corralense, and new synonyms for Rhynchostegium acanthophyllum and for Cratoneuropsis chilensis are proposed. Oxyrrhynchium hians is newly reported for Chile, apparently being a recent introduction. Lectotypes are selected for Hypnum corralense, Hypnum acanthophyllum, and for Rhynchostegiella acanthophylla var. robusta.

We here describe and illustrate Begonia tadungensis (B. sect. Platycentrum), a new species from southern Vietnam. The new species is most similar to B. albopunctata in having broadly ovate leaves, three free styles, 4-loculed ovary, and berry-like fruits with a beaked apex, but differs mainly in having a glabrous abaxial leaf surface (not densely red pubescent), and fruits with gray puberlous hairs (not white papillose). It is also similar to B. pendens in its broadly ovate leaves and monoecious breeding system, but differs in having 6 tepals in the pistillate flowers (not 5) and 4-loculed ovaries (not 3-loculed). Information on ecology, conservation status, and a further comparison of characters with these two similar species is also provided.

Abstract— Gonolobus espejoi, a new species from Veracruz, Mexico, is described and illustrated. The new taxon shares characteristics with G. albiflorus and G. spiranthus such as the presence of a stipitate gynostegium, but differs from these species by having campanulate corolla, corolla lobes with two lateral purple calluses with the right margin ciliate, oblong-spatulate anther appendages, and a cotyliform style apex. A comparative table and a distribution map of the new taxon and the morphologically similar species is provided.

Litsea dorsalicana, a new species of Lauraceae from northern Guangxi, China is described and illustrated. It is similar to Litsea elongata, but can be distinguished from the latter by twigs, buds and abaxial leaf surface densely covered with gray-white pubescence, leaf blade oblanceolate to oblong, to 29.5 cm long, 10.5 cm wide, base cuneate to attenuate, fruit red, cupule cup-shaped, once or twice cleft at the margin.

Amyris jorgemeavei from the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, is described and illustrated. The new taxon is compared with A. carterae and A. madrensis, species with similar morphological characteristics. It is however easily differentiated from these two by having glabrous leaves and floral parts, a lobed nectar disc, and it is known only from southwestern Mexico. A comparative table and a distribution map of the three species are included.
