New records of water mites of the genus Atractides Koch, 1837 (Acari: Hydrachnidia, Hygrobatidae) from Thailand, Malaysia and Sulawesi are presented. Four species new to science, Atractides siamis, A. malayensis, A. tahanensis and A. sulawesiensis, are described; a first description of the male is given for Atractides putihi Wiles, 1991; a first description of the female is given for Atractides tenuipalpis Lundblad, 1969 and A. incertus Lundblad, 1969; two subspecies are elevated to species rank (with their former stem species in parentheses): A. substriatus Lundblad, 1969 (incertus), A. cognatus (K. Viets, 1935) (spatiosus); first records are given for Atractides incertus Lundblad, 1969 (Thailand), A. schwoerbeli Lundblad, 1969 (Thailand, Malaysia), A. tenuipalpis Lundblad, 1969 (Thailand), A. cognatus (K. Viets, 1935) (Thailand) and A. putihi Wiles, 1991 (Thailand).

New records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from Malaysia are presented. Three species new to science, Torrenticola haliki, Monatractides cameronensis and Atractides cameronensis are described; first records are given for Monatractides parviventris (K. Viets, 1935) and M. roseus (Lundblad, 1941).

Three new water mite (Acari: Hydrachnidia) species are described from Tasmania, Tasmanobates separatus sp. nov., Procorticacarus karanovici sp. nov. and Guineaxonopsis tasmanica sp. nov. The material was collected in 2008 during a biological survey by Tom and Ivana Karanović (Hobart, Tasmania) from surface and interstitial waters of Tasmania. Moreover, a detailed description of Litarachna cf. amnicola Cook, 1986 is given.

New records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from the standing waters of Sri Lanka are presented. Fifteen species have been registrated, among them four species, i.e. Piona srilankana (Pionidae), Neumania edytae (Unionicolidae), Krendowskia (Krendowskiella) srilankana (Krendowskiidae), and Mideopsis ewelinae (Mideopsidae) are described as new to science. DNA was extracted from 18 water mite specimens and DNA barcodes are given for the first time for nine species.

A survey is given of the distribution of the water mite species of the genus Sperchon Kramer (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Sperchontidae) in Turkey, based on all published data and numerous new records. Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) oezkani and S. (Sperchon) ayyildizi are described as new species; Sperchon fundamentalis Bader & Sepasgozarian, 1980 is synonymized with S. glandulosus Koenike, 1886; the first record from Turkey is given for Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) tarnogradskii Sokolow, 1927.

New records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from Brunei Darussalam are presented. Two new species are described: Hydrodroma bruneiensis (Hydrodromidae) and Litarachna bruneiensis (Pontarachnidae); Limnesia lembangensis Piersig, 1906 and Arrenurus bihamatus K. Viets, 1935, are reported for the first time from Brunei Darussalam. The water mite fauna of Borneo now tallies 41 species.

The results are given of water mite collections from Hawaii, Western Samoa, Fiji and Vanuatu. Four new species are described, viz. Aspidiobates vanuaticus, A. pacificus, Unionicola pacifica and Arrenurus nausoriensis. One new subgenus, i.e. Shebaturus and one new species, Amperaturus globulipes n. sp. is described from South Africa. Hexaxonopsis clavigera (Walter, 1922) is re-described. New records are given for South Africa and Namibia, including the first records of the genera Aturus Kramer and Kongsbergia Thor.
