A new species of the rare caridean genus Bresilia Calman, 1896, B. cinctus, is described and illustrated on the basis of a single ovigerous female specimen collected from Sagami Bay, central Japan, at 218–318 m depth. The new species is morphologically most similar to B. rufioculus Komai & Yamada, 2011, known only from shallow water cave of Ie Island (depths 14–17 m), Okinawa Islands, Ryukyu Islands, but many characters, including the proportionally shorter rostrum, the well developed suborbital lobe of the carapace, and the presence of a spiniform seta on the ventral surface of the pereopod 1 palm, immediately distinguish the new species from B. rufioculus. Bresilia cinctus n. sp. is the first species of the genus known from the Japanese main islands. The discovery of the new species led us to reassess the merit of the informal division of Bresilia proposed by Komai & Yamada (2010). An identification key to the ten named species of Bresilia is presented.

A new palaemonid shrimp, Palaemonella shirakawai sp. nov., is described and illustrated on the basis of a single ovigerous female specimen captured from the Ryukyu Islands, Japan. It appears closest to P. aliska Marin by sharing the median carina of the carapace armed with dorsal rostral teeth extending posterior to the level of the hepatic tooth, but is immediately differentiated by the shorter rostrum, a rounded posterior margin of the telson, an elongate antennal scaphocerite with a truncate distal margin of lamella, and the longer second pereiopod. The present new species is an associate of burrow dwelling fishes belonging to the family Opistognathidae.

A new species of the chirostylid squat lobster genus Uroptychodes Baba, 2004, U. fuscilineatus, is described and illustrated on the basis of a single ovigerous female from the Uraga Channel, central Japan, at depth of 250 m. The new species appears most similar to U. spinimarginatus (Henderson, 1885) and U. yapensis Dong, Gan & Li, 2021 among the 13 known congeners, but is notable in the pereopod 2 not being definitely more slender than the pereopods 3 and 4 and the remarkably spinose pereopods 1–4. A possible association of the new species with crinoid is suggested. An updated identification key to species of Uroptychodes is presented.

A new bopyrid, Pseudione chiesai n. sp., is herein described based on an ovigerous female and an adult male found in the right branchial chamber on a specimen of Munida spinosa Henderson, 1885. This parasite was collected in the Mar del Plata submarine canyon at 819 m depth during the expedition “Talud Continental I” carried out by the Argentine RV Puerto Deseado in 2012. P. chiesai n. sp. belongs to the Pseudione “crénelés” group sensu Bourdon (1972, 1976), which currently contains seven species, all of which have galatheoid crabs as hosts. P. chiesai n. sp. can be separated from the other species in the Pseudione “crénelés” group by the following combination of characters: (1) both sides of the body convex, (2) frontal lamina with a few, shallow indentations, (3) coxal plates 1–4 and tergal projections 1–4 with distinct irregular margins, mainly on the right side, (4) pereomeres 5–7 with single/branched lateral digitations, (5) maxilliped palp well-developed and setose, and (6) pleon with lateral plates 1–5 distally rounded and directed laterally. The taxonomic position of this new species is briefly discussed.

Discovery of a new hermit crab species from the Ryukyu Islands, Japan, led us to reexamine the holotype and supplemental specimens of Trichopagurus trichophthalmus (Forest), the type species of the heretofore monotypic Trichopagurus de Saint Laurent. Our examination has revealed that the gill lamellae of T. trichophthalmus are actually entire (= biserial), rather than shallowly divided distally (= quadriserial) as reported by de Saint Laurent (1970). The new species is assigned to Trichopagurus because of the 11 pairs of biserial gills, well-developed rostrum, moderately long male right sexual tube directed toward exterior, and the possession of a single left gonopore in female. The new species, T. macrochela n. sp., is distinguished from T. trichophthalmus primarily by the dorsoventrally flattened carpus with a distinctly delimited dorsomesial margin, less setose ambulatory legs, and markedly asymmetrical coxae of the female fifth pereopods, of which the left bears numerous setae on the ventral surface. It has been also shown that previous records of T. trichophthalmus from the Palau and Yap Islands are based on both true T. trichophthalmus and T. macrochela. A comparative, updated redescription of T. trichophthalmus is also provided.

The family Entomolepididae is represented in the South Atlantic Ocean solely by Spongiopsyllus, a monotypic genus found previously in association with sponges. A recent survey on the Boa Viagem Reefs, located off Salvador, Bahia State, on the northeastern region of Brazil, has revealed a new species of the genus, Spongiopsyllus redactus n. sp., found associated with the endemic scleractinian coral Mussismilia hispida (Verrill). The new species is distinguished from its congener, S. adventicius Johnsson, 2000, by differences in the number of segments of the antennule, the ornamentation of the distal endopodal segment of the antenna, and the setation of the maxilliped and P1. An updated key to the species of Entomolepididae is also provided.
