From the results of magnetic susceptibility and magnetization measurements of the triple chains ACrF4 (A = K, Rb, Cs), the characteristics of one-dimensional antiferromagnetic chains are found. The exchange parameters J/k are —6.2 K and —12.2 K for KCrF4 and CsCrF4, respectively. Measurements on single crystals of RbCrF4 reveal the exchange and the anisotropy parameters to be J/k = —10.5 K and D/k = 0.4 K. The Mössbauer spectra of 2% 57Fe doped CsCrF4 show marked relaxation. One third of the magnetic chains are frustrated and remain uncorrelated with other magnetic chains.
