Introduction. Maxillary sinus surgery is a reliable and predictable treatment option for the prosthetic rehabilitation of the atrophic maxilla. Nevertheless, these interventions are not riskless of postoperative complications with respect to implant positioning in pristine bone.Aim. The aim of this paper is to report the results of a clinical consensus of experts (periodontists, implantologists, maxillofacial surgeons, ENT, and microbiology specialists) on several clinical questions and to give clinical recommendations on how to prevent, diagnose, and treat postoperative infections.Materials and Methods. A panel of experts in different fields of dentistry and medicine, after having reviewed the available literature on the topic and taking into account their long-standing clinical experience, gave their response to a series of clinical questions and reached a consensus. Results and Conclusion. The incidence of postop infections is relatively low (2%–5.6%). A multidisciplinary approach is advisable. A list of clinical recommendation are given.

Aim. This paper is aimed at reporting the clinical case of a patient with cleft lip and palate treated with a multidisciplinary approach. Case Report. An 11-year-old patient presented cleft lip and palate, with persistent oronasal communication, tooth displacement, and upper and lower crowding with a deep curve of Spee. He was treated with metal bracket orthodontic therapy, graft surgery, and prosthetic rehabilitation supported by miniscrews. Conclusions. Cleft lip and/or palate patients require adequate management of the case to resolve the anomalies connected to their condition and to improve their quality of life.

ABSTRACT Rehabilitation of patients with mandibular defect requires a multidisciplinary approach involving a head and neck surgeon, maxillofacial prosthodontist and a reconstructive surgeon. A hemimandibulectomy patient can have many debilitating consequences such as eccentric occlusion, disoriented masticatory cycle, facial disfigurement, distorted speech and salivation problem. The aim of this case report is to describe a technique which combines crown with prosthetic rehabilitation to meet the functional and esthetic requirement of the hemimandibulectomy patients.

ABSTRACT The demand for orthodontic treatment in adults has been increasing. However, these patients often require a multidisciplinary approach, due to the lack of posterior teeth, requiring additional anchorage. The skeletal anchorage by endosseous implants is an option, since they may be used later for prosthetic rehabilitation. The application of immediate load on these appliances for orthodontic movement may reduce the costs and total treatment time. This paper discusses the utilization of endosseous dental implants with immediate load for absolute anchorage for orthodontic movement, with later utilization for prosthetic rehabilitation.

The management of patients with traumatic injuries to their dentition poses a serious challenge in everyday general dental practice. For the rehabilitation of the complicated subgingival crown fracture of anterior teeth, multidisciplinary approach is often indicated. A combination of endodontic, orthodontic, periodontal and prosthodontic approach may be required. Orthodontic or periodontal intervention becomes an integral part for the exposure of the sound tooth structure of fractured anterior teeth with fracture line extending subgingivally. The aim of this paper is to discuss the immediate endodontic management followed by orthodontic extrusion of traumatized upper anterior teeth with fracture at the subgingival level. In order to expose the sound tooth structure for prosthodonticintervention, orthodontic extrusion was performed after endodontic treatment. To avoid extraction of the involved teeth, the multidisciplinary approach was adopted and finally the teeth were restored prosthodontically. The final result was esthetically pleasant and periodontically sound.

Complex periprosthetic cases are considered as challenges by clinicians. Clinical and radiographic parameters should be considered separately to make the right choice between an endodontically or periodontally compromised treated tooth and implant. Therefore, in order to decide whether the tooth is safe or not, data that have to be collected are specific parameters of both the patient and the clinician. In addition, the presence of periodontal, prosthetic, and orthodontic diseases requires patients to be set in multidisciplinary approach. The aim of this case report is to describe how the multidisciplinary approach could be the best way to manage difficult cases of implant-prosthetic rehabilitation. How to rehabilitate with fixed prosthesis on natural teeth and dental implants a smoker patient who presents with active periodontitis, multiple edentulous areas, dental malocclusion, and severe aesthetic problems was also described.

AbstractEctodermal dysplasia are rare hereditary disorders characterized by abnormal development of certain tissues and structures of ectodermal origin. Children affected need multidisciplinary approach and a removable prosthesis is recommended in initial years of life to prevent bone resorption, improve esthetics, mastication and speech apart from boosting self image. Implants are recommended only once the growth is complete. This case reports hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia with partial anodontia in a 3 year old child, rehabilitated with partial denture in maxillary and complete denture in mandibular arch.
