Abstract The low signal-to-noise ratio is a characteristic feature of NMR experiments in the Earth magnetic field. The main problem of such studies is the ineffectiveness of signal accumulation due to fluctuations of the Earth magnetic field because of magnetic interferences from laboratory equipment and other magnetic field sources. Taking into account the fact that generally in the Earth magnetic field proton-containing liquids have spectra with a central strong line, a relatively simple method has been found to neutralize the Larmor frequency fluctuations. The NMR signal processing algorithm is described. The home-built NMR-equipment allows us to clearly register the splitting in proton spectra, for example, due to the J-interaction with such nuclei as 29Si or 13C at their natural abundance (4.7 and 1.1%, respectively).

Measurement method is studied utilizing vertical gyroscopevertical gyroscopevertical gyroscope, static earth magnetic field sensor and CPU. According to electromagnetism induction law, when a wire loop incises the magnetic force line of the earth magnetic field, it will bring about the induction electromotive force, the earth magnetic field can be calculated by signal processing of induced voltage in measuring coil. A heading and attitude measuring system to vehicle are designed, the heading precision were raised. Experiment data states clearly the heading precision is not more than 0.5°. This system can be used to detect heading and attitude, and can be extended easily.

Abstract. This research intends to characterize the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) by applying power spectrum analysis approach. From the approach, the Hurst exponent can be determined. The motivation to study the SAA region is due to its nature. A comparison was made between the stations in the SAA region and outside the SAA region during the geomagnetic storm occurrence (active period) and normal period where no geomagnetic storm occurred. The data for the occurrence of the active period was taken on 11 March 2011 while for normal period on 3 February 2011. The outcomes of the research revealed that the SAA region had a tendency to be persistent during active period and normal periods. It can be said, it experiences this characteristic because of the Earth’s magnetic field strength. Through the research, it is found that as the Earth magnetic field increases, it is likely to show an antipersistent value. This is found in the high latitude region. The lower the Earth magnetic field, the more it shows the persistent value as in the middle latitude region. In the region where the Earth magnetic field is very low like the SAA region it shows a tendency to be persistent.
