Vol 24 (5) ◽

Abstract COLMONOY NO. 5 comprises a chromium-boride-containing, nickel-base alloy recommended for hard surfacing parts to resist wear, corrosion, heat and galling. Deposits, which have only moderate hardness (Rockwell C 45-50), may be machined with carbide tooling. Also, deposits have fairly good workability, ductility and impact strength. Colmonoy No. 5 is supplied as crushed powder for application with Wall Colmonoy's SPRAYWELD Process. Also, it is supplied as bare or coated rod for either oxyacetylene or DC electric-arc (reverse polarity) application, as well as castings. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive strength as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and powder metal forms. Filing Code: Ni-217. Producer or source: Wall Colmonoy Corporation.
