ABSTRACT We report a case of benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) recurring after 4 years of total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for fibroid uterus. Probably in this case, recurrence was due to extragonadal source of estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, patient was put on antiestrogen and antiprogesterone therapy, after hysterectomy to prevent further recurrence. Through this case, importance of surgery combined with antiestrogen and antiprogesterone therapy is emphasized. How to cite this article Agarwal A, Bhattacharya AB, Dwivedi AD, Kumar A. Osseous metaplasia has been described at many sites, however previous reports of osseous metaplasia in ovarian lesions are rare. This is most commonly associated with dermoid cyst, osseous metaplasia in stroma rich in serous or mucinous neoplasm and ossification of endometriotic cyst (chocolate cyst). Here The authors report a case of incidental finding of osseous metaplasia in the endometriotic cyst (chocolate cyst) of resected ovary in 42-year-old female who had gone for total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for provisional diagnosis of AUB.

CONTEXT: Thecomas are benign tumors that account for less than 1% of all ovarian neoplasms. The association of ovarian thecoma with sclerosing peritonitis is rare. CASE REPORT: We report the case of a 33-year-old woman, with a two-month history of increasing abdominal volume. Ultrasound showed a complex pelvic lesion and laboratory analysis detected elevated serum CA 125 levels. The patient underwent total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and peritoneal biopsy. Histopathological analysis revealed the presence of luteinized thecoma of both ovaries associated with sclerosing peritonitis.
