WeightedLpforp∈(1,∞)and weak-type endpoint estimates with general weights are established for commutators of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator with BMO symbols on spaces of homogeneous type. As an application, a weighted weak-type endpoint estimate is proved for maximal operators associated with commutators of singular integral operators with BMO symbols on spaces of homogeneous type. All results with no weight on spaces of homogeneous type are also new.

We show that the dual Bp·locΩ′ of the variable exponent Hörmander space Bp(·)loc(Ω) is isomorphic to the Hörmander space B∞c(Ω) (when the exponent p(·) satisfies the conditions 0<p-≤p+≤1, the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator M is bounded on Lp(·)/p0 for some 0<p0<p- and Ω is an open set in Rn) and that the Fréchet envelope of Bp(·)loc(Ω) is the space B1loc(Ω). Our proofs rely heavily on the properties of the Banach envelopes of the p0-Banach local spaces of Bp(·)loc(Ω) and on the inequalities established in the extrapolation theorems in variable Lebesgue spaces of entire analytic functions obtained in a previous article. Other results for p(·)≡p, 0<p<1, are also given (e.g., all quasi-Banach subspace of Bploc(Ω) is isomorphic to a subspace of lp, or l∞ is not isomorphic to a complemented subspace of the Shapiro space hp-). Finally, some questions are proposed.

Abstract Let (𝑋,𝑑,μ) be a normal space of homogeneous type, 𝑋+ be the upper half-space equipped with a Carleson measure β, and let Φ be an N-function and φ a suitable function satisfying the doubling property. We prove that the generalized Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator 𝑀 is bounded from the Orlicz–Campanato space 𝐿Φ,φ (𝑋,μ) to 𝐿Φ,φ (𝑋+,β).

A trace inequality for the generalized Riesz potentialsIα(x)is established in spacesLp(x)defined on spaces of homogeneous type. The results are new even in the case of Euclidean spaces. As a corollary a criterion for a two-weighted inequality in classical Lebesgue spaces for potentialsIα(x)defined on fractal sets is derived.
