Eriosema squarrosum (Thunb.) Walp. has traditionally been the dumping ground for all densely pubescent Eriosema species in southern Africa. This study clarifies the identity of E. squarrosum; recognizes three new taxa: E. luteopetalum C. H. Stirton, E. rossii C. H. Stirton and E. umtamvunense C. H. Stirton; effects the combinations  E. latifolium (Benth. ex Harv.) C. H. Stirton and . acuminatum (Eckl. Zeyh.) C. H. Stirton; and re­instates  E. dregei E. Mey. The species E. preptum C. H. Stirton, described earlier, also belongs to this complex. Rhynchosia barbertonensis C. H. Stirton is given as a new name for E. rogersii Schinz.

Additions and alterations to the inventory of about 26 000 plant taxa in southern Africa are reported for the period from February 1990 to February 1991. In this period a total of 1 080 alterations have been recorded. These changes result from the continual surveying of taxonomic literature received by the library of the National Botanical Institute.

The genera  Nesaea Commers. ex H.B.K. and  Ammannia L. in southern Africa, which comprises Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho, were revised. In  Nesaea, 27 species (seven new), four varieties and one new form were recognized.  Ammannia was revised using the DECORANA computer program, and four species were recognized. Keys to the taxa are presented, as well as synonymy (restricted to the region), diagnoses and descriptions o f new taxa, and notes on distribution, taxonomy and nomenclature. The following taxa are new:  Nesaea alata Immelman,  N. angustifolia Immelman.  N. cymosa Immelman,  N. minima Immelman.  N. sagittifolia (Sond.) Koehne var.  ericiformis Koehne forma swaziensis Immelman.  N. saluta Immelman, N. wardii Immelman and  N. zambatidis Immelman.

Four new taxa of ferns are described and illustrated from southern Africa:  Ophioglossum convexum J.E. Burrows, Mohria caffrorum (L.) Desv. var. ferruginea J.E. S.M. Burrows,  Marsilea farinosa Launert subsp. arrecta J.E. Burrows and Asplenium sebungweense J.E. Burrows. The combination of Grammitis rigescens (Bory ex Willd.) J.E. Burrows is made. Ophioglossum thomasii Clausen,  O. rube Hum Welw. ex A. Braun.  Vinana ensiformis Swartz and Asplenium buettneri Hieron. ex Brause are new records for Zimbabwe, while Hymenophyllum splendidum V.d. Bosch and  Asplenium uhligii Hieron. are new records for Malawi and Zimbabwe. Actiniopteris semiflabellata Pichi-Sermolli is recorded from Namibia and Thelypteris oppositiformis (C. Chr.) Ching is recorded from the Transvaal.

Abstract. Kozur et al. (1996) reported and described some well-preserved Lower Ordovician (Tremadocian) Radiolaria from central Nevada and established several new taxa, among them a new genus Noblella, assigned to the Family Protoentactiniidae Kozur, Mostler & Repetski, 1996. Dr J. K. Page kindly informed us that the genus Noblella already was established for an amphibian genus, Family Brachycephalidae, type species N. peruviana (Noble), byBarbour (1930; p. 81). Therefore, the genus name Noblella Kozur, Mostler & Repetski, 1996 non! Noblella Barbour, 1930, is invalid because of homonymy. We here replace this junior homonym with Paulanoblella Kozur & Repetski, nomen novum.Genus Paulanoblella Kozur & Repetski, nomen novumDerivation. The new name is in honour of noted Radiolaria researcher, Dr Paula Noble, Reno, Nevada.Diagnosis. Unchanged (see Kozur et al., 1996, pp. 255, 266).Holotype. The following new taxa in the genus Gelatinosporium Peck (Coelomycetes) are proposed: G. griseo-lanatum n.sp., G. sinuatum n.sp., and G. stillwelli n.sp.; new combinations for three species in Gelatinosporium, and a new name for Micropera uncinala. The classification of the genera belonging to the doryctine tribe Rhaconotini (Braconidae) is updated. The following new taxa are described: Troporhaconotus gen. nov. (with 12 species), Afroipodoryctes subgen. nov. (of Ipodoryctes Granger, 1949) (with three species), Hexarhaconotinus subgen. nov. (of Rhaconotinus Hedqvist, 1965) (with ten species), Bathycentor zimbabwensis sp. nov., Ipodoryctes (Afroipodoryctes) reunionus sp. nov., I. (A.) saintphilippensis sp. nov., Platyspathius (Platyspathius) venezuelicus sp. nov., P. (P.) ranomafanus sp. nov., Rhacontsira haeselbarthi sp. nov., Rh. mozambiquensis sp. nov., Rh. saigonensis sp. nov. and Rh. toamasina sp. nov. The generic status of Euryphrymnus Cameron, 1910 is resurrected. The generic name Aptenobracon Marsh, 1965 is synonymised under Rhaconotus Ruthe, 1854 (syn. nov.); Rhaconotus asiaticus Belokobylskij, 1990 is synonymised under Rh. kerzhneri Belokobylskij, 1985 (syn. nov.). The new name, Rhaconotinus austrochinensis nom. nov., is suggested for the preoccupied name Rhaconotus chinensis Chen & Shi, 2004 (December) not Rhaconotus chinensis Belokobylskij & Chen, 2004 (June). New species contents, in many cases with numerous new combinations, are suggested for the genera Bathycentor Saussure, 1892, Euryphrymnus Cameron, 1910, Ipodoryctes Granger, 1949, Rhaconotinus Hedqvist, 1965 and Rhaconotus. The tribe Leptorhaconotini is synonymised with Rhaconotini based on previously published molecular phylogenetic studies, though we leave this group within the subtribe Leptorhaconotina.

Pereionotus species from around Australia are described. The new taxa Pereionotus dieteri sp. nov. and Pereionotushartmuti sp. nov. are fully described and compared with the redescribed Pereionotus thomsoni. Species misidentified inthe past are synonymised and as a result the new taxon Pereionotus yongensis sp. nov. is introduced. A new name,Pereionotus hirayamai sp. nov., is proposed for Pereionotus thomsoni japonicus (Hirayama, 1987) (homonym of P. japonicus (Tzvetkova, 1967)). A key to the Australian species of the genus Pereionotus is given.
