The article analyses the graphic reconstruction of the lost Novopokrovskaya Church in Rosov-on-Don by architect N. M. Sokolov. The goal was to carry out visual reconstruction of the lost historic building on the basis of historical and archival studying of documents and extant images, as well as field studies. The history of the construction of the Novopokrovskaya Church was studied. The visual reconstruction of the church lost in the modern urban environment was carried out.

Anthropological Reconstruction Laboratory of the Center for Physical Anthropology, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology RAS. The article relates the current state of the M.M. Gerasimov Laboratory of Anthropological Reconstruction of the Center for Physical Anthropology, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Russian Academy of Sciences. Emphasizing the role of the founder of the method of face reconstruction from the skull, the author discusses the latest improvements to this method. The data bank on the thickness of the facial integument in representatives of various ethnic groups, and the accumulated experience with regard to the relationships between facial features and the underlying structures of the skull, made it possible to create a program of craniofacial correspondence ‘The Algorithm of Appearance’, which significantly improves the process of reconstructing in vivo appearance based on the skull. The visual reconstruction of the appearance is supplemented by an anthropological description of the lifetime appearance, in terms of the ‘verbal portrait’ used in forensic science. A description of a unique collection of more than 300 sculptural and graphic portraits made on the basis of the skulls of ancient people and historical figures is given. Based on the examples of specific projects, the possibilities of anthropological reconstruction for solving applied and theoretical problems of science are shown. The reconstruction of the appearance of soldiers killed in the Second World War is the key patriotic direction of the Laboratory s work. Based on the results of these reconstructions, several fi were identifi Th Laboratory is currently at work on reconstructing the lifetime appearance of A.V. Suvorov on the basis of a death mask.

The traditional 3D visual motion amplitude tracking algorithms cannot acquire the complete contour features, not to mention the correction of wrong motions in sports training. To solve the problem, this paper designs a 3D visual image recognition method based on contourlet domain edge detection, and applies it to the recognition of athlete’s wrong motions in sports training. Firstly, the visual reconstruction and feature analysis of human motions were carried out, and the edge detection features were extracted by edge detection algorithm. Then, a 3D visual motion amplitude tracking method was proposed based on improved inverse kinematics. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively realize the recognition of 3D visual images of athlete motions, and improve the correction and judgment ability of athlete motions.

Abstract The Daśabhūmikasūtra has a number of distinctly visual components. However, how, and to what ends, imagery functions in this text is less clear. Taking a single narrative episode at the beginning of the text as its main focus this paper offers an examination of the pivotal metaphor of the peaked dwelling of networks of dense clouds of great light rays (mahāraśmighanābhrajālakūṭāgāra). In attempting to show the importance of visuality to the rhetoric of the text the following approach is offered: exploration of the conceptual domains of the elements of the composition to provide approximated access to cultural context; visual reconstruction of the narrative sequence; analysis of the visual articulation of meaning and interpretation of the strategic use of visual rhetoric.
