AbstractThe skew mean curvature flow is an evolution equation for d dimensional manifolds embedded in $${{\mathbb {R}}}^{d+2}$$ R d + 2 (or more generally, in a Riemannian manifold). It can be viewed as a Schrödinger analogue of the mean curvature flow, or alternatively as a quasilinear version of the Schrödinger Map equation. In this article, we prove small data local well-posedness in low-regularity Sobolev spaces for the skew mean curvature flow in dimension $$d\ge 4$$ d ≥ 4 .

We establish some properties of the bilateral Riemann–Liouville fractional derivative Ds.  We set the notation, and study the associated Sobolev spaces of fractional order s, denoted by Ws,1(a,b), and the fractional bounded variation spaces of fractional order s, denoted by BVs(a,b). Examples, embeddings and compactness properties related to these spaces are addressed, aiming to set a functional framework suitable for fractional variational models for image analysis.

Abstract Given an open and bounded set Ω ⊆ ℝ n {\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^{n}} and a family 𝐗 = ( X 1 , … , X m ) {\mathbf{X}=(X_{1},\ldots,X_{m})} of Lipschitz vector fields on Ω, with m ≤ n {m\leq n} , we characterize three classes of local functionals defined on first-order X-Sobolev spaces, which admit an integral representation in terms of X, i.e. F ⁢ ( u , A ) = ∫ A f ⁢ ( x , u ⁢ ( x ) , X ⁢ u ⁢ ( x ) ) ⁢ 𝑑 x , F(u,A)=\int_{A}f(x,u(x),Xu(x))\,dx, with f being a Carathéodory integrand.

AbstractThis paper investigates the optimal Hermite interpolation of Sobolev spaces $W_{\infty }^{n}[a,b]$ W ∞ n [ a , b ] , $n\in \mathbb{N}$ n ∈ N in space $L_{\infty }[a,b]$ L ∞ [ a , b ] and weighted spaces $L_{p,\omega }[a,b]$ L p , ω [ a , b ] , $1\le p< \infty $ 1 ≤ p < ∞ with ω a continuous-integrable weight function in $(a,b)$ ( a , b ) when the amount of Hermite data is n. We proved that the Lagrange interpolation algorithms based on the zeros of polynomial of degree n with the leading coefficient 1 of the least deviation from zero in $L_{\infty }$ L ∞ (or $L_{p,\omega }[a,b]$ L p , ω [ a , b ] , $1\le p<\infty $ 1 ≤ p < ∞ ) are optimal for $W_{\infty }^{n}[a,b]$ W ∞ n [ a , b ] in $L_{\infty }[a,b]$ L ∞ [ a , b ] (or $L_{p,\omega }[a,b]$ L p , ω [ a , b ] , $1\le p<\infty $ 1 ≤ p < ∞ ). We also give the optimal Hermite interpolation algorithms when we assume the endpoints are included in the interpolation systems.
