Abstract We prove that the Kodaira dimension of the n-fold universal family of lattice-polarised holomorphic symplectic varieties with dominant and generically finite period map stabilises to the moduli number when n is sufficiently large. Then we study the transition of Kodaira dimension explicitly, from negative to nonnegative, for known explicit families of polarised symplectic varieties. In particular, we determine the exact transition point in the Beauville–Donagi and Debarre–Voisin cases, where the Borcherds $\Phi _{12}$ form plays a crucial role.

This paper concerns different types of singular complex projective varieties generalizing irreducible symplectic manifolds. We deduce from known results that the generalized Beauville-Bogomolov form satisfies the Fujiki relations and has the same rank as in the smooth case. This enables us to study fibrations of these varieties; imposing the newer definition from [GKP16, Definition 8.16.2] we show that they behave much like irreducible symplectic manifolds. For a moduli space of Bridgeland-stable objects on a K3 surface, we show that the Chow class of a point is determined by the Chern class of the corresponding object on the surface. This establishes a conjecture of Junliang Shen, Qizheng Yin, and the second author.

Abstract We approach non-divisorial base loci of big and nef line bundles on irreducible symplectic varieties. While for K3 surfaces, only divisorial base loci can occur, nothing was known about the behaviour of non-divisorial base loci for more general irreducible symplectic varieties. We determine the base loci of all big and nef line bundles on the Hilbert scheme of two points on very general K3 surfaces of genus two and on their birational models. Remarkably, we find an ample line bundle with a non-trivial base locus in codimension two. We deduce that, generically in the moduli spaces of polarized K3[2]-type varieties, the polarization is base point free.

Moduli spaces of stable objects in the derived category of a $K3$ surface provide a large class of holomorphic symplectic varieties. In this paper, we study the interplay between Chern classes of stable objects and zero-cycles on holomorphic symplectic varieties which arise as moduli spaces. First, we show that the second Chern class of any object in the derived category lies in a suitable piece of O’Grady’s filtration on the $\text{CH}_{0}$-group of the $K3$ surface. This solves a conjecture of O’Grady and improves on previous results of Huybrechts, O’Grady, and Voisin. Second, we propose a candidate for the Beauville–Voisin filtration on the $\text{CH}_{0}$-group of the moduli space of stable objects. We discuss its connection with Voisin’s recent proposal via constant cycle subvarieties, and prove a conjecture of hers on the existence of special algebraically coisotropic subvarieties for the moduli space.
