AbstractThe standard well-known Remez inequality gives an upper estimate of the values of polynomials on $$[-1,1]$$ [ - 1 , 1 ] if they are bounded by 1 on a subset of $$[-1,1]$$ [ - 1 , 1 ] of fixed Lebesgue measure. The extremal solution is given by the rescaled Chebyshev polynomials for one interval. Andrievskii asked about the maximal value of polynomials at a fixed point, if they are again bounded by 1 on a set of fixed size. We show that the extremal polynomials are either Chebyshev (one interval) or Akhiezer polynomials (two intervals) and prove Totik–Widom bounds for the extremal value, thereby providing a complete asymptotic solution to the Andrievskii problem.

<p>We introduce the general Albertson irregularity index of a connected graph $ G $ and define it as $ A_{p}(G) = (\sum_{uv\in E(G)}|d(u)-d(v)|^p)^{\frac{1}{p}} $, where $ p $ is a positive real number and $ d(v) $ is the degree of the vertex $ v $ in $ G $. The new index is not only generalization of the well-known Albertson irregularity index and $ \sigma $-index, but also it is the Minkowski norm of the degree of vertex. We present lower and upper bounds on the general Albertson irregularity index. In addition, we study the extremal value on the general Albertson irregularity index for trees of given order. Finally, we give the calculation formula of the general Albertson index of generalized Bethe trees and Kragujevac trees.</p>

A typical quandary in geometric functions theory is to study a functional composed of amalgamations of the coefficients of the pristine function. Conventionally, there is a parameter over which the extremal value of the functional is needed. The present paper deals with consequential functional of this type. By making use of Hohlov operator, a new subclass [Formula: see text] of analytic functions defined in the open unit disk is introduced. For both real and complex parameter, the sharp bounds for the Fekete–Szegö problems are found. An attempt has also been taken to found the sharp upper bound to the second and third Hankel determinant for functions belonging to this class. All the extremal functions are express in term of Gauss hypergeometric function and convolution. Finally, the sufficient condition for functions to be in [Formula: see text] is derived. Relevant connections of the new results with well-known ones are pointed out.

The vertex k-partiteness of graph G is defined as the fewest number of vertices whose deletion from G yields a k-partite graph. In this paper, we characterize the extremal value of the reformulated first Zagreb index, the multiplicative-sum Zagreb index, the general Laplacian-energy-like invariant, the general zeroth-order Randić index, and the modified-Wiener index among graphs of order n with vertex k-partiteness not more than m .

AbstractIn the paper the extremal dynamic error x(τ) and the moment of time τ are considered. The extremal value of dynamic error gives information about accuracy of the system. The time τ gives information about velocity of transient. The analytical formulae enable design of the system with prescribed properties. These formulae are calculated due to the assumption that x(τ) is a function of the roots s1, ..., snof the characteristic equation.

The first two Hilbert coefficients of a primary ideal play an important role in commutative algebra and in algebraic geometry. In this paper we give a complete algebraic structure of the Sally module of integrally closed ideals $I$ in a Cohen–Macaulay local ring $A$ satisfying the equality $\text{e}_{1}(I)=\text{e}_{0}(I)-\ell _{A}(A/I)+\ell _{A}(I^{2}/QI)+1,$ where $Q$ is a minimal reduction of $I$, and $\text{e}_{0}(I)$ and $\text{e}_{1}(I)$ denote the first two Hilbert coefficients of $I,$ respectively, the multiplicity and the Chern number of $I.$ This almost extremal value of $\text{e}_{1}(I)$ with respect to classical inequalities holds a complete description of the homological and the numerical invariants of the associated graded ring. Examples are given.

In the article solution of the problem of extremal value of x(τ) is presented, for the n-th order linear systems. The extremum of x(τ) is considered as a function of the roots s1, s2, ... sn of the characteristic equation. The obtained results give a possibility of decomposition of the whole n-th order system into a set of 2-nd order systems.

AbstractThe paper is concerned with an extremal problem of combinatorial analysis on finding the minimal possible number of edges in an n-regular hypergraph with chromatic number greater than r and girth greater than s. A new lower estimate of this extremal value is obtained and a number of related results is proved.
