Pseudoaneurysms of the common iliac artery caused by Brucellosis are exceedingly uncommon. Infected common iliac artery pseudoaneurysms, particularly those caused by brucellosis, are more difficult to diagnose and cure than general pseudoaneurysms. The risk of mortality is significantly high in this condition. Nonsurgical treatment of a brucellosis-induced common iliac artery pseudoaneurysm is futile, and it should be operated on as soon as feasible. Long-term and multi-course antibacterial therapy with combination antibiotics is required. For the treatment of Brucella-infected pseudoaneurysms, endovascular surgery can be both effective and safe.

Abstract Background Pancreatic transplantation is a definitive treatment for selected patients with insulin-dependent diabetes. It is a technically challenging surgery, and vascular complications are the most common cause of pancreatic graft failure. Although rare, pancreas transplants present higher rates of pseudoaneurysms at the vascular anastomosis than other visceral transplants. We present a case of a simultaneous pancreas–kidney transplant complicated with graft failure and common iliac artery pseudoaneurysm that was successfully treated through endovascular techniques. Case presentation A 34-year-old White woman presented with abdominal pain and a history of type 1 diabetes mellitus, end-stage renal disease, and two previous pancreas transplantation failures. The first was a simultaneous pancreas–kidney transplantation performed 7 months prior that was complicated by pancreas graft thrombosis within 1 month and required graft resection. Five months later, she underwent a second pancreas transplantation with another pancreatic graft thrombosis requiring graft resection. Abdominal angiotomography revealed a pseudoaneurysm in the right common iliac artery at the point of the previous graft anastomosis. The patient was successfully treated endovascularly with a covered stent in the common iliac artery. Conclusion Stent graft implantation for the treatment of common iliac artery pseudoaneurysm as a complication of simultaneous pancreas–kidney transplantation is a safe and feasible procedure.

Anastomotic site pseudoaneurysm following renal transplantation is a rare vascular complication. Its etiology include defective suture techniques and infections. The clinical presentation includes allograft dysfunction, local mass effect, exsanguination, and rupture. Open surgical repair is associated with significant morbidity and allograft dysfunction. Endovascular stent-graft can be a less invasive, alternative approach. We describe a case of large pseudoaneurysm arising from the internal iliac artery in a post-renal transplant patient. It was successfully treated with the stent-graft. The externally compressed right common iliac vein was also treated with a self-expanding non-graft stent. Thus, endovascular approach can be an effective alternative to open repair for post-renal transplant iliac artery pseudoaneurysm.

We describe a case of internal iliac artery pseudoaneurysm in a 38-year-old woman with postpartum hemorrhage following uterine artery ligation and uterine rupture repair. A 38-year-old female without any comorbid conditions or diseases who had previously given birth with a normal vaginal delivery was admitted to an external healthcare center with pain. The patient presented to our hospital on the 7th postoperative day with abdominal and side pain. We diagnosed the patient with ultrasonography and CT-angiogram imaging and she was treated with selective embolization. On the second day following the procedure, a regression in the previously identified hydronephrosis was observed using renal ultrasonography. The patient was discharged on the 14th day of hospitalization when she was clinically stable. Patients presenting with abdominal pain and hemorrhage after cesarean sections should be carefully evaluated for the possibility of uncommon complications, especially pseudoaneurysms, preferably with a multidisciplinary approach.

The case of an 80-year-old male with claudication of his left foot who was referred to our hospital for evaluation and treatment. Computed tomography (CT) angiography revealed occlusion of left common and external iliac (EIA) arteries. Recanalization of the EIA lesion under intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) guidance and placement of 2 stent grafts was completed successfully. Nine months later, 27 × 29 mm pseudoaneurysm of the left EIA was identified that appeared to have developed secondary to migration of the original stent graft. A new stent graft was placed.

We report a unique case of a ruptured iliac artery pseudoaneurysm caused by asymptomatic gastrointestinal perforation and retroperitoneal abscess formation. A 46-year-old man presented to the Emergency Department of our institution. Angiography showed a ruptured iliac artery pseudoaneurysm caused by retroperitoneal abscess formation. After endovascular repair and surgical drainage, the cause of the abscess was finally identified as a toothpick. Findings from this case show that asymptomatic gastrointestinal foreign body perforation can be a rare, but insidious, cause of an infected pseudoaneurysm. Prompt surgical intervention is sometimes necessary when treating patients with arterial pseudoaneurysm caused by a perivascular abscess.
