Abstract Let $k \leq n$ be positive integers, and let $X_n = (x_1, \dots , x_n)$ be a list of $n$ variables. The Boolean product polynomial  $B_{n,k}(X_n)$ is the product of the linear forms $\sum _{i \in S} x_i$, where $S$ ranges over all $k$-element subsets of $\{1, 2, \dots , n\}$. We prove that Boolean product polynomials are Schur positive. We do this via a new method of proving Schur positivity using vector bundles and a symmetric function operation we call Chern plethysm. This gives a geometric method for producing a vast array of Schur positive polynomials whose Schur positivity lacks (at present) a combinatorial or representation theoretic proof. We relate the polynomials $B_{n,k}(X_n)$ for certain $k$ to other combinatorial objects including derangements, positroids, alternating sign matrices, and reverse flagged fillings of a partition shape. We also relate $B_{n,n-1}(X_n)$ to a bigraded action of the symmetric group ${\mathfrak{S}}_n$ on a divergence free quotient of superspace.

AbstractLet V be an infinite-dimensional vector space ovre a field of characteristic 0. It is well known that the tensor algebra T on V is a completely reducible module for the general linear group G on V. This paper is concerned with those quotient algebras A of T that are at the same time modules for G. A partial solution is given to the problem of determinig those A in which no irreducible constitutent has multiplicity greater thatn 1.

This paper is concerned with integral domains R, for which the factor group SL2(R)/U2(R) has a non-trivial, free quotient, where U2(R) is the subgroup of GL2(R) generated by the unipotent matrices. Recently, Krstić and McCool have proved that SL2(P[x])/U2(P[x]) has a free quotient of infinite rank, where P is a domain which is not a field. This extends earlier results of Grunewald, Mennicke and Vaserstein.Any ring of the type P[x] has Krull dimension at least 2. The purpose of this paper is to show that result of Krstić and McCool extends to some domains of Krull dimension 1, in particular to certain Dedekind domains. This result, which represents a two-dimensional anomaly is the best possible in the following sense. It is well known that SL2(R) = U2(R), when R is a domain of Krull dimension zero, i.e. when R is a field. It is already known that for some arithmetic Dedekind domains A, the factor group SL2(A)/U2(A) has a free quotient of finite (and not infinite) rank.
