To the Editor.—
I applaud the Academy's insightful report on "The Pediatrician and Childhood Bereavement."1 Despite training culminating in board certification in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, I received no effective formal guidance in the area of grief and bereavement. Only since the sudden death of my 7-year-old son and the painful readjustment my family has been forced to undergo since, has it been obvious how deficient we physicians are in this area of caring. Thus I would like to add the following comments:
