A luminescent metal–organic frameworkgea-MOF-1, can act as a fluorescent sensor for sensitive and selective detection of nitrobenzene and aniline. More importantly, the detection limit of nitrobenzene is on the 5–60 ppm scale.

A heterometallic MOF with strong blue fluorescence and interrupted cap topology was synthesized, which not only showed naked-eye selective detection ability towards the nitro explosive trinitrobenzene but also displayed the high sensing selectivity towards picric acid.
