Reaction of 5'-O-p-toluenesulfonyl-2',3'-O-isopropylideneuridine (I) with sodium 4-cyanophenoxide afforded 2',3'-O-isopropylidene-5'-O-(4-cyanophenyl)uridine (II) which was converted by acid hydrolysis into 5'-O-(4-cyanophenyl)uridine (IIIa). Acid-catalyzed addition of ethanol to compound IIIa gave the imido ester hydrochloride IIIb which on reaction with ammonia or ethylamine was transformed into the amidine derivatives IIIc and IIId. Compound IIIb reacted with human serum albumine or bovine gamma-globuline at pH 9.2 to give protein conjugates with uridine, bound covalently by an amidine bond (IIIe,f).

This paper gives modal analysis results for mid-body of a refrigerator carrier ship by means of combined three-dimensional finite-element model with 1.5 million DOF. The study estimates the error of modal analysis for the ship structure if its boundary conditions are specified in advance, i.e. approximately, as well as analyses the gain in time offered by structuring the analytical model as per reduction (condensation) method. Analytical approaches thus transformed can be successfully applied in filtering lower frequencies and modes of natural vibrations for structural elements and joints of hull in the direct vicinity of exciting force application points.

A Generalised Euclidean Least Square Approximation (ELS) is derived in this paper. The Generalised Euclidean Least Square Approximation is derived by generalizing the interpolation of n arbitrary data set to approximate functions. Existence and uniqueness of the ELS schemes are shown by establishing the invertibility of the coefficient matrix using condensation method to reduce the matrix. The method is illustrated for exponential function and the results are compared to the classical Maclaurin’s series.
