A phosphomolybdic acid catalysed novel method for the synthesis of
1,2-dihydro-1-arylnaphtho[1,2-e][1,3]oxazine-3-one derivatives by a one-pot,
three-component reaction of ?-naphthol, aromatic aldehydes and urea in
excellent yields is described.
Pyridines and fused pyridines are accessible by a combination of a Lewis acid-catalyzed multicomponent reaction and aromatization involving loss of a 2-furylmethyl chain.
