In this paper, a special lighting system that uses seamless prism light guide as main lighting component and application of the system in a high-humidity room is introduced. Experimental results show that the illuminance level and uniformity in the room has been improved greatly by the application of the guide. The average horizontal and vertical illuminance on main working plan created by the seamless light guide system is individually 74.1% and 101.8% higher than that created by the original lighting fixtures. The application of the seamless light guide system also makes the maintaining work become easier and safer.

It has been long time for lighting designers to solve the problem of lighting in some special rooms such as high temperature and humidity rooms. In this paper, a seamless prism light guide made by extruding technique and its application in a concrete-curing room with high temperature and humidity is introduced. The illuminance level and uniformity of the room has been improved greatly by application of the guide. The average illuminance on working surface created by the seamless light guide system is 19.2 lux while that created by the original lighting fixtures is 6.2 lux. The application of the seamless light guide system also makes the maintaining work easier and safer.

The article reviews the potential of light guide system equipped by a concentrator device capturing daylight applicable for illumination of building interiors and presents results of experiments on performance of its prototype. The main goal is focused on the comparison of traditional solutions and newly developed prototype of the light guide system and presents examination of its light transmission efficiency based on the laboratory experiments.

The article contains comparative results of studying of spectral characteristics of two different light transporting systems: based on DF2000MA polymer film (marketed) and based on vacuum-deposited silver coated with silicon and titanium oxides (own development). Studying of Alanod miro Silver 4270AG, Alanod miro Silver 4400AG and Alanod miro Silver 4400GP variants of Alanod miro Silver retroreflective material showed that chromaticity of output light of our light guide system is almost the same as that of input natural daylight in visible spectrum. Advantages of optical elements for the light guide system developed by us over those applied in the reference system are demonstrated.
