The focus of this article encompasses an exploration of the psychosocial aspects of sexuality and the spinal cord injured person, individual adjustment strategies, and the role of the rehabilitation counselor in facilitating sexual adjustment through counseling. Further, implications for counselor training are also considered. It was pointed out that although the rehabilitation counselor's role is debated in the area of incorporating discussions of sexual concerns in the counseling process, professionals in rehabilitation are increasingly reporting the importance of relating to this area of life adjustment. A primary conclusion related to the importance of sexual adjustment of spinal cord injured persons as a significant element in the overall comprehensive rehabilitation process.
