AbstractLet C,D,D* be, respectively, the complex plane, {z ∈ C : |z| < 1}, and D — {0}. If P1(C) is the Riemann sphere, the Big Picard theorem states that if ƒ:D* → P1(C) is holomorphic and P1(C) → ƒ(D*) n a s more than two elements, then ƒ has a holomorphic extension . Under certain assumptions on M, A and X ⊂ Y, combined efforts of Kiernan, Kobayashi and Kwack extended the theorem to all holomorphic ƒ: M → A → X. Relying on these results, measure theoretic theorems of Lelong and Wirtinger, and other properties of complex spaces, Noguchi proved in this context that if ƒ: M → A → X and ƒn: M → A → X are holomorphic for each n and ƒn → ƒ, then . In this paper we show that all of these theorems may be significantly generalized and improved by purely topological methods. We also apply our results to present a topological generalization of a classical theorem of Vitali from one variable complex function theory.

AbstractIn the characterization of the range of the Radon transform, one encounters the problem of the holomorphic extension of functions defined on ℝ2 \ Δℝ (where Δℝ is the diagonal in ℝ2) and which extend as “separately holomorphic” functions of their two arguments. In particular, these functions extend in fact to ℂ2 \ Δℂ where Δℂ is the complexification of Δℝ. We take this theorem from the integral geometry and put it in the more natural context of the CR geometry where it accepts an easier proof and amore general statement. In this new setting it becomes a variant of the celebrated “edge of the wedge” theorem of Ajrapetyan and Henkin.

In recent analysis we have defined and studied holomorphic functions in tubes inℂnwhich generalize the HardyHpfunctions in tubes. In this paper we consider functionsf(z),z=x+iy, which are holomorphic in the tubeTC=ℝn+iC, whereCis the finite union of open convex conesCj,j=1,…,m, and which satisfy the norm growth of our new functions. We prove a holomorphic extension theorem in whichf(z),z ϵ TC, is shown to be extendable to a function which is holomorphic inT0(C)=ℝn+i0(C), where0(C)is the convex hull ofC, if the distributional boundary values in&#x1D4AE;′off(z)from each connected componentTCjofTCare equal.
