AbstractWe review Lie polynomials as a mathematical framework that underpins the structure of the so-called double copy relationship between gauge and gravity theories (and a network of other theories besides). We explain how Lie polynomials naturally arise in the geometry and cohomology of $$\mathcal {M}_{0,n}$$ M 0 , n , the moduli space of n points on the Riemann sphere up to Mobiüs transformation. We introduce a twistorial correspondence between the cotangent bundle $$T^*_D\mathcal {M}_{0,n}$$ T D ∗ M 0 , n , the bundle of forms with logarithmic singularities on the divisor D as the twistor space, and $$\mathcal {K}_n$$ K n the space of momentum invariants of n massless particles subject to momentum conservation as the analogue of space–time. This gives a natural framework for Cachazo He and Yuan (CHY) and ambitwistor-string formulae for scattering amplitudes of gauge and gravity theories as being the corresponding Penrose transform. In particular, we show that it gives a natural correspondence between CHY half-integrands and scattering forms, certain $$n-3$$ n - 3 -forms on $$\mathcal {K}_n$$ K n , introduced by Arkani-Hamed, Bai, He and Yan (ABHY). We also give a generalization and more invariant description of the associahedral $$n-3$$ n - 3 -planes in $$\mathcal {K}_n$$ K n introduced by ABHY.

Abstract We calculate the splitting type of holomorphic vector bundles on the Riemann sphere induced by a Fuchsian system of differential equations. Using this technique, we indicate the relationship between Hölder continuous matrix functions and a moduli space of vector bundles on the Riemann sphere. For second order systems with three singular points we give a complete characterization of the corresponding vector bundles by the invariants of Fuchsian system.

Abstract We consider the family ℰ (s, r, d) of all singular complex analytic vector fields X ( z ) = Q ( z ) P ( z ) e E ( z ) ∂ ∂ z $X(z)=\frac{Q(z)}{P(z)}{{e}^{E(z)}}\frac{\partial }{\partial z}$ on the Riemann sphere where Q, P, ℰ are polynomials with deg Q = s, deg P = r and deg ℰ = d ≥ 1. Using the pullback action of the affine group Aut(ℂ) and the divisors for X, we calculate the isotropy groups Aut(ℂ) X of discrete symmetries for X ∈ ℰ (s, r, d). The subfamily ℰ (s, r, d)id of those X with trivial isotropy group in Aut(ℂ) is endowed with a holomorphic trivial principal Aut(ℂ)-bundle structure. A necessary and sufficient arithmetic condition on s, r, d ensuring the equality ℰ (s, r, d) = ℰ (s, r, d)id is presented. Moreover, those X ∈ ℰ (s, r, d) \ ℰ (s, r, d)id with non-trivial isotropy are realized. This yields explicit global normal forms for all X ∈ ℰ (s, r, d). A natural dictionary between analytic tensors, vector fields, 1-forms, orientable quadratic differentials and functions on Riemann surfaces M is extended as follows. In the presence of nontrivial discrete symmetries Γ < Aut(M), the dictionary describes the correspondence between Γ-invariant tensors on M and tensors on M /Γ.

AbstractModuli spaces of stable parabolic bundles of parabolic degree 0 over the Riemann sphere are stratified according to the Harder–Narasimhan filtration of underlying vector bundles. Over a Zariski open subset $$\mathscr {N}_{0}$$ N 0 of the open stratum depending explicitly on a choice of parabolic weights, a real-valued function $$\mathscr {S}$$ S is defined as the regularized critical value of the non-compact Wess–Zumino–Novikov–Witten action functional. The definition of $$\mathscr {S}$$ S depends on a suitable notion of parabolic bundle ‘uniformization map’ following from the Mehta–Seshadri and Birkhoff–Grothendieck theorems. It is shown that $$-\mathscr {S}$$ - S is a primitive for a (1,0)-form $$\vartheta $$ ϑ on $$\mathscr {N}_{0}$$ N 0 associated with the uniformization data of each intrinsic irreducible unitary logarithmic connection. Moreover, it is proved that $$-\mathscr {S}$$ - S is a Kähler potential for $$(\Omega -\Omega _{\mathrm {T}})|_{\mathscr {N}_{0}}$$ ( Ω - Ω T ) | N 0 , where $$\Omega $$ Ω is the Narasimhan–Atiyah–Bott Kähler form in $$\mathscr {N}$$ N and $$\Omega _{\mathrm {T}}$$ Ω T is a certain linear combination of tautological (1, 1)-forms associated with the marked points. These results provide an explicit relation between the cohomology class $$[\Omega ]$$ [ Ω ] and tautological classes, which holds globally over certain open chambers of parabolic weights where $$\mathscr {N}_{0} = \mathscr {N}$$ N 0 = N .

AbstractWe consider the class of compact Riemann surfaces which are ramified coverings of the Riemann sphere $\hat {\mathbb {C}}$ ℂ ̂ . Based on a triangulation of this covering we define discrete (multivalued) harmonic and holomorphic functions. We prove that the corresponding discrete period matrices converge to their continuous counterparts. In order to achieve an error estimate, which is linear in the maximal edge length of the triangles, we suitably adapt the triangulations in a neighborhood of every branch point. Finally, we also prove a convergence result for discrete holomorphic integrals for our adapted triangulations of the ramified covering.

For a finite group G, the Hurwitz space Hinr,g(G) is the space of genus g covers of the Riemann sphere P1 with r branch points and the monodromy group G. In this paper, we give a complete list of some almost simple groups of Lie rank two. That is, we assume that G is a primitive almost simple groups of Lie rank two. Under this assumption we determine the braid orbits on the suitable Nielsen classes, which is equivalent to finding connected components in Hinr,g(G).

AbstractIn this paper, we give a positive answer to a rigidity problem of maps on the Riemann sphere related to cross-ratios, posed by Beardon and Minda (Proc Am Math Soc 130(4):987–998, 2001). Our main results are: (I) Let $$E\not \subset {\hat{\mathbb {R}}}$$ E ⊄ R ^ be an arc or a circle. If a map $$f:{\hat{\mathbb {C}}}\mapsto {\hat{\mathbb {C}}}$$ f : C ^ ↦ C ^ preserves cross-ratios in E, then f is a Möbius transformation when $${\bar{E}}\not =E$$ E ¯ ≠ E and f is a Möbius or conjugate Möbius transformation when $${\bar{E}}=E$$ E ¯ = E , where $${\bar{E}}=\{{\bar{z}}|z\in E\}$$ E ¯ = { z ¯ | z ∈ E } . (II) Let $$E\subset {\hat{\mathbb {R}}}$$ E ⊂ R ^ be an arc satisfying the condition that the cardinal number $$\#(E\cap \{0,1,\infty \})<2$$ # ( E ∩ { 0 , 1 , ∞ } ) < 2 . If f preserves cross-ratios in E, then f is a Möbius or conjugate Möbius transformation. Examples are provided to show that the assumption $$\#(E\cap \{0,1,\infty \})<2$$ # ( E ∩ { 0 , 1 , ∞ } ) < 2 is necessary.
