A series of tourmaline/ZnO composite thin films were prepared by the facile route of low-temperature wet chemical method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman Spectroscopy analyses showed the hybrid spectroscopic characters of tourmaline and ZnO. With adding the different amount of tourmaline powder, ZnO tended to exhibit the different peak intensity of X-ray diffraction and Raman vibration. ZnO deposited into bending nanosheets and intersected to upstanding nanostucture on the surface of tourmaline particles in SEM images. The optical adsorption properities obtained by the UV-Vis spectra indicated that the addition of tourmaline had enhanced the maximum absorption strength, and had shifted the absorption wavelength and the absorption range of ZnO crystals.

Cubic phase of silver antimony sulfide (AgSbS2) nanostructures were successfully synthesized from silver nitrate (AgNO3), antimony acetate (CH3CO2)3Sb, and sodiumthiosulphate pentahydrate (Na2S2O3.5H2O) in propylene glycol (PG) without using any surfactants or splitting agents by a facile wet chemical route at 160 OC for 30 min. The XRD, SEM and TEM reveal AgSbS2 nanostructures forming the clusters. Due to the UV-visible absorption shows its direct band gap, is 1.80 eV, AgSbS2 is found to be the excellent material for the solar energy converters. And the possible formation of AgSbS2 nanostructured cluster was also discussed.

Silica based ceramics are some of the most fundamental in crystal chemistry. The cristobalite form of silica has two modifications, α (low temperature, tetragonal form) and β (high temperature, cubic form). This paper describes our structural studies of unusual chemically stabilized cristobalite (CSC) material, a room temperature silica-based ceramic containing small amounts of dopants, prepared by a wet chemical route. It displays many of the structural charatcteristics of the high temperature β-cristobalite (∼270°C), but does not undergo phase inversion to α-cristobalite upon cooling. The Structure of α-cristobalite is well established, but that of β is not yet fully understood.Compositions with varying Ca/Al ratio and substitutions in cristobalite were prepared in the series, CaO:Al2O3:SiO2 : 3-x: x : 40, with x= 0-3. For CSC, a clear sol was prepared from Du Pont colloidal silica, Ludox AS-40®, aluminium nitrate nonahydrate, and calcium nitrate hexahydrate in proportions to form a final composition 1:2:40 composition.
