This paper investigates the application of the adaptive feedback control method in the chaotic system and Single-state Adaptive Feedback Controller. We divide the adaptive feedback controller into several items, each of which has only one component of the system states as feedback input into each dimension of the system. With the introduction of single-state controller, the scale of control inputs can be flexibly adjusted, the additional loading reduced, better convergence effect obtained and the application field of adaptive feedback control methods further extended in stable control analysis of chaotic systems. An example is also given to illustrate the validity of our result.

Abstract In this paper, we study the reasonability of linearized approximation and Hopf bifurcation control for a fractional-order delay Bhalekar–Gejji (BG) chaotic system. Since the current study on Hopf bifurcation for fractional-order delay systems is carried out on the basis of analyses for stability of equilibrium of its linearized approximation system, it is necessary to verify the reasonability of linearized approximation. Through Laplace transformation, we first illustrate the equivalence of stability of equilibrium for a fractional-order delay Bhalekar–Gejji chaotic system and its linearized approximation system under an appropriate prior assumption. This semianalytically verifies the reasonability of linearized approximation from the viewpoint of stability. Then we theoretically explore the relationship between the time delay and Hopf bifurcation of such a system. By introducing the delayed feedback controller into the proposed system, the influence of the feedback gain changes on Hopf bifurcation is also investigated. The obtained results indicate that the stability domain can be effectively controlled by the proposed delayed feedback controller. Moreover, numerical simulations are made to verify the validity of the theoretical results.

This paper investigates the synchronization of incommensurate fractional-order chaotic systems, and proposes a modified adaptive-feedback controller for fractional-order chaos synchronization based on Lyapunov stability theory, fractional order differential inequality and adaptive control theory. This synchronization approach that is simple, global and theoretically rigorous enables synchronization of fractional-order chaotic systems be achieved in a systematic way. Simulation results for a fractional-order chaotic system is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

One 3D fractional-order chaotic system with only one locally asymptotically stable equilibrium is reported. To verify the chaoticity, the maximum Lyapunov exponent (MAXLE) with respect to the fractional-order and chaotic attractors are obtained by numerical calculation for this system. Furthermore, by linear scalar controller consisting of a single state variable, one control scheme for stabilization of the 3D fractional-order chaotic system is suggested. The numerical simulations show the feasibility of the control scheme.

In this paper, a new fractional order chaotic system without equilibrium is proposed, analytically and numerically investigated, and numerically and experimentally tested. The analytical and numerical investigations were used to describe the system’s dynamical behaviors including the system equilibria, the chaotic attractors, the bifurcation diagrams, and the Lyapunov exponents. Based on the obtained dynamical behaviors, the system can excite hidden chaotic attractors since it has no equilibrium. Then, a synchronization mechanism based on the adaptive control theory was developed between two identical new systems (master and slave). The adaptive control laws are derived based on synchronization error dynamics of the state variables for the master and slave. Consequently, the update laws of the slave parameters are obtained, where the slave parameters are assumed to be uncertain and are estimated corresponding to the master parameters by the synchronization process. Furthermore, Arduino Due boards were used to implement the proposed system in order to demonstrate its practicality in real-world applications. The simulation experimental results were obtained by MATLAB and the Arduino Due boards, respectively, with a good consistency between the simulation results and the experimental results, indicating that the new fractional order chaotic system is capable of being employed in real-world applications.
