The Large Technical System approach was introduced by the influential historian of technology, Thomas P. Hughes, in the 1970’s and is one of the most prominent theoretical frameworks within the Science and Technology Studies. However, it has found little attention in relation to the digital realm. This research applies the LTS framework onto the US-American company Google and seeks to bring a conceptual understanding to the company’s exponential growth. Thus, it describes the emergence and evolution of Google as a complex system – an alignment of components of technical and non-technical nature – and assigns patterns and concepts to its development. This research provides an answer to how Google not only gained a system structure but also reached the notion of momentum. Yet, suggesting a social constructivist path, this paper secludes by elucidating the influencing power of the LTS’s user – an important factor which was widely disregarded in the initial works of Hughes.

Cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) is a complex system of intracellular tubules that, due to their small size and juxtaposition to such electron-dense structures as mitochondria and myofibrils, are often inconspicuous in conventionally prepared electron microscopic material. This paper presents the implementation fuzzy logic control on the battery charging system. To control the charging process is a complex system due to the exponential relationship between the charging voltage, charging current and the charging time. The effective of charging process controller is needed to maintain the charging process. Because if the charging process cannot under control, it can reduce the cycle life of the battery and it can damage the battery as well. In order to get charging control effectively, the Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) for a Valve Regulated Lead-Acid Battery (VRLA) Charger is being embedded in the charging system unit. One of the advantages of using FLC beside the PID controller is the fact that, we don’t need a mathematical model and several parameters of coefficient charge and discharge to software implementation in this complex system. The research is started by the hardware development where the charging method and the combination of the battery charging system itself to prepare, then the study of the fuzzy logic controller in the relation of the charging control, and the determination of the parameter for the charging unit will be carefully investigated. Through the experimental result and from the expert knowledge, that is very helpful for tuning of the  embership function and the rule base of the fuzzy controller.

This article addresses the meaning and significance of the “world revolution of 1968,” as well as the historiography of 1968. I critically interrogate how the production of a narrative about 1968 and the creation of ethnic studies, despite its world-historic significance, has tended to perpetuate a limiting, essentialized and static notion of “the student” as the primary actor and an inherent agent of change. Although students did play an enormous role in the events leading up to, through, and after 1968 in various parts of the world—and I in no way wish to diminish this fact—this article nonetheless argues that the now hegemonic narrative of a student-led revolt has also had a number of negative consequences, two of which will be the focus here. One problem is that the generation-driven models that situate 1968 as a revolt of the young students versus a presumably older generation, embodied by both their parents and the dominant institutions of the time, are in effect a sociosymbolic reproduction of modernity/coloniality’s logic or driving impulse and obsession with newness. Hence an a priori valuation is assigned to the new, embodied in this case by the student, at the expense of the presumably outmoded old. Secondly, this apparent essentializing of “the student” has entrapped ethnic studies scholars, and many of the period’s activists (some of whom had been students themselves), into said logic, thereby risking the foreclosure of a politics beyond (re)enchantment or even obsession with newness yet again.
