Removal of an Acute Subdural Hematoma Associated with High-Energy Trauma: Auxiliary Use of Emergency Trepanning and Endoscopy
Keyword(s):
AbstractThe endoscopic removal of subdural hematomas is well reported, but its use in high-energy trauma cases has not been completely elucidated. Moreover, questions persist regarding the need for an emergency puncture, craniotomy range, and the adaptation of endoscopic technique to clinical settings; this includes cases where brain swelling is expected. Here, we describe a novel technique of endoscopic hematoma removal in an elderly patient with an acute subdural hematoma associated with high-energy trauma.
