As a district, Mansfield Independent School District wanted to validate that Health Services was performing at the highest level possible, implementing evidence-based practices, and achieving the highest outcomes with our students and staff. NASN (2016) had developed the Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice to illustrate the practice of school nurses; and sought ways to operationalize the Framework for local school nurses and district level use. This article will explain how the two groups partnered together to develop a tool and assessment program. The article will discuss the approach, challenges, and perspectives of both Mansfield Independent School District and NASN, lessons learned, outcome, and future/potential changes within health services.

A new frontier of manufacturing research, biomedical manufacturing, is presented. Advanced manufacturing technologies, such as manufacturing processes, systems, and quality control, can be readily applied to improve the safety, quality, cost, and speed of medical and healthcare service and research. The analogy of hospital as factory is explored to define biomedical manufacturing. Characteristics and engineering needs of biomedical manufacturing are discussed. Examples in interventional cardiology on the grinding and cutting of plaque and the tissue machining on minimizing the nerve tissue thermal damage in surgery are used to demonstrate the broad spectrum of biomedical manufacturing research. On education, the scope and lessons learned from teaching a new senior undergraduate/first-year graduate level course in Biomedical Design and Manufacturing are presented.

The simultaneous growth of robotic-assisted surgery and telemedicine in recent years has only been accelerated by the recent coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Robotic assistance for neurovascular intervention has garnered significant interest due to opportunities for tele-stroke models of care for remote underserved areas. Lessons learned from medical robots in interventional cardiology and neurosurgery have contributed to incremental but vital advances in medical robotics despite important limitations. In this article, we discuss robot types and their clinical justification and ethics, as well as a general overview on available robots in thoracic/abdominal surgery, neurosurgery, and cardiac electrophysiology. We conclude with current clinical research in neuroendovascular intervention and a perspective on future directions.
