Gemella haemolysans is a rare cause of human disease, namely infective endocarditis and brain abscesses. We report herein a case of Gemella haemolysans liver abscess in an immunocompetent adult patient secondary to blunt liver trauma and successfully managed by medical-surgical approach.

AbstractA case of schwannoma of the larynx is reported. It originated from the left ventricular fold submucosally and extended to the left side of the neck outside the larynx near the carotid sheath. It presented with stridor. CT scan showed a mass in the larynx which had fractured the left thyroid lamina and extended into the neck. An external surgical approach was used and the mass was removed in toto without laryngofissure. Left vocal fold paralysis was noticed during laryngoscopy at the time of the operation. The possibility that the tumour originated from the recurrent laryngeal nerve is discussed. Histopathological photomicrographs and a CT scan are presented.

Amyand´s hernia represents an unusual cause of hernia. It has an incidence of 1% of all inguinal hernias. The clinical presentation depends on the involvement of the hernial sac and the inflammatory state of the appendix. Due to the low frequency of presentation of Amyand's hernia, there is no protocolized treatment. Authors present the case of a 70-year-old patient with the presence of surgically resolved Amyand´s hernia.
