In this paper, we propose a multi-choice goal programming (MCGP) model of the multi-objective commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products selection problem. The proposed model simultaneously minimize the total cost, size, execution time and delivery time and maximize the system reliability of a modular software system subject to many realistic constraints including incompatibility among COTS products. We assume that the decision maker provides multiple aspiration levels regarding cost, size, execution time, delivery time and reliability objectives using discrete choices. To obtain efficient COTS selection plans, we use MCGP methodology to solve the COTS products selection problem. A real-world case study is discussed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model and methodology.

Investors have limited budget and they try to maximize their return with minimum risk. Therefore this study aims to deal with the portfolio selection problem. In the study two criteria are considered which are expected return, and risk. In this respect, linear physical programming (LPP) technique is applied on Bist 100 stocks to be able to find out the optimum portfolio. The analysis covers the period April 2009- March 2015. This period is divided into two; April 2009-March 2014 and April 2014 – March 2015. April 2009-March 2014 period is used as data to find an optimal solution. April 2014-March 2015 period is used to test the real performance of portfolios. The performance of the obtained portfolio is compared with that obtained from fuzzy goal programming (FGP). Then the performances of both method, LPP and FGP are compared with BIST 100 in terms of their Sharpe Indexes. The findings reveal that LPP for portfolio selection problem is a good alternative to FGP.

This paper includes project selection problem. Indeed, decision maker wants to select some projects among a group of projects with considering the resource constraints or he/she wants to reach a sequence of projects for doing them. We consider an objective for selecting the projects: minimizing the deviations from optimum solution. We study our models and solution method by a case study from Iran. This solution method is based on goal programming. The results show the efficiency of model and solution method and a chart has been shown for analyzing the results and seeing the sequence of projects. Finally, we propose future researches and generation of problem.
