Power estimation is a very prominent aspect in micro controllers which aims to to be more efficient in terms of power. A new method of estimation of power based on the execution of instruction in AURIX, which is an automotive micro- controller is proposed. The main aim of this method is to estimate the power in perspective of program(software) or instruction level which is constantly processed in microprocessor which is more accurate when compared with the previous methodologies. The estimation is done based on some set of instructions which is used in AURIX for Data transfer/storing in to memories, Data processing and Data Execution for various application. Most of the previous methodologies are all not accurate due to the abstraction levels.

Welcome to a new collection of Geophysics Bright Spots. I remember reading the first Bright Spots column as a student at Colorado School of Mines. Steve Hill, who conceived the wonderful idea of initiating this column, was my instructor there for a course on seismic data processing. He is a brilliant teacher — always challenging his students to think outside the box and ever open to discussions and debates. Through this column, he exposed readers to cutting-edge research in the field of geophysics while providing a new and important platform for authors to reach industry practitioners. Below is a list of research the editors found interesting in the latest issue of Geophysics. If any of them pique your interest, please read the full Geophysics article. Maybe a light bulb will go off in your head for a new method or algorithm.

The processing flow of data clouds is analyzed concretely. Based on software Geomagic Studio and Imageware, a new method of data processing for point clouds is put forward, and the scheme of data processing is designed. Taking a mechanism part for example, the practical application is performed, and proves the feasibility and practicality of the method.

A custom-made device was used for the acquisition, digitization, compression, storage and telephone transmission of respiratory sounds and airflow data. Acoustical information from two patients at a small community in rural Manitoba was sent over a distance of 500 km via conventional telephone lines. Digital transmission left the respiratory sounds unaffected by telephone line noise. Data processing by computer at the receiving site provided more detail than would have been available on conventional auscultation. This new method for teleauscultation could be of value not only in remote areas but also for the surveillance of patients at home in urban settings.
