AbstractWe have constructed a Main galaxy subsample of 67777 galaxies with redshifts in the range 0.08 ≤ z ≤ 0.12 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 3. Using cluster analysis, two isolated Main galaxy samples were extracted from this subsample. The two isolated Main galaxy samples identified at different radii have the same properties. Additionally, we find fewer early-type galaxies in isolated Main galaxy samples than in a close double galaxy sample.

AbstractUsing two volume-limited Main galaxy samples of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7 , we explore influences of galaxy interactions on AGN activity. It is found that in the faint volume-limited sample, paired galaxies have a slightly higher AGN fraction than isolated galaxies, whereas in the luminous volume-limited sample, an opposite trend can be observed. The significance is <1σ. Thus, we do not observe strong evidence that interactions or mergers likely trigger the AGN activity.

In this work, I construct a LRG (Luminous Red Galaxy) sample with redshifts 0.6 ≤ z ≤ 0.75 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 15 (SDSS DR15), which contains 184172 CMASS LRGs and 27158 eBOSS LRGs, and examine the environmental dependence of galaxy age and stellar mass in this galaxy sample. I divide this LRG sample into subsamples with a redshift binning size of ∆z = 0.01, and analyze the environmental dependence of galaxy age and stellar mass for these subsamples in each redshift bin. Overall, galaxy age and stellar mass in the LRG sample with redshift 0.6 ≤ z ≤ 0.75 are very weakly correlated with the local environment, which shows that minimal environmental dependence of galaxy parameters can continue to larger redshifts.

Abstract We study the morphological distribution of galaxies in some nearby clusters, using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey – Data Release 9 (SDSS-DR9). The segregation between early-type galaxies and late-type ones is investigated in g – r / u – g color space, using the color cut u – r = 2.22. The results are compared with those obtained using a color cut that changes with magnitude. They are found to be consistent, particularly for late-type galaxies. The results obtained by the fixed color-cut criterion are also found to be consistent with those obtained by the inverse concentration index parameter, especially for early-type galaxies. Comparable results are obtained for the stacked sample, whose morphologies, given by the fixed color-cut criterion are compared with the visual morphologies provided by the Galaxy Zoo project. A good degree of consistency is seen, which becomes more evident for late-type galaxies.

ABSTRACT We analyse the clustering of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey IV extended Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey Data Release 16 luminous red galaxy sample (DR16 eBOSS LRG) in combination with the high redshift tail of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey Data Release 12 (DR12 BOSS CMASS). We measure the redshift space distortions (RSD) and also extract the longitudinal and transverse baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) scale from the anisotropic power spectrum signal inferred from 377 458 galaxies between redshifts 0.6 and 1.0, with the effective redshift of zeff = 0.698 and effective comoving volume of $2.72\, {\rm Gpc}^3$. After applying reconstruction, we measure the BAO scale and infer DH(zeff)/rdrag = 19.30 ± 0.56 and DM(zeff)/rdrag = 17.86 ± 0.37. When we perform an RSD analysis on the pre-reconstructed catalogue on the monopole, quadrupole, and hexadecapole we find, DH(zeff)/rdrag = 20.18 ± 0.78, DM(zeff)/rdrag = 17.49 ± 0.52 and fσ8(zeff) = 0.454 ± 0.046. We combine both sets of results along with the measurements in configuration space and report the following consensus values: DH(zeff)/rdrag = 19.77 ± 0.47, DM(zeff)/rdrag = 17.65 ± 0.30 and fσ8(zeff) = 0.473 ± 0.044, which are in full agreement with the standard ΛCDM and GR predictions. These results represent the most precise measurements within the redshift range 0.6 ≤ z ≤ 1.0 and are the culmination of more than 8 yr of SDSS observations.

AbstractUsing the apparent magnitude-limited Main galaxy sample of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 10, we examine the K-band luminosity–density relation at fixed parameters or for different galaxy families. It is found that the limiting or fixing galaxy properties, such as galaxy morphology, stellar mass, and color, exert substantial influence on the environmental dependence of the K-band luminosity of galaxies, which suggests that the K-band luminosity–density relation is likely attributable to the relation between these galaxy properties and density.
