A simple three-channel system for simultaneous determination of As, Se, and Sb by hydride generation and ICP emission spectrometry is described. The device is based on the use of simple, low-resolution prism monochromators for spectral line isolation, together with interference filters for general background reduction. Detection limits are found to be 1.0 μg/L, 1.3 μg/L, and 2.4 μg/L, respectively, for As, Se, and Sb. Interference studies show no significant problems for a large number of elements. Use of the method for the analysis of Standard Reference Water Samples showed generally good agreement with round-robin data.
