Fourty-First Annual Report, 1928, Brazos County, Texas.Breeding as Affecting Egg Production.The work under this project this year is a continuation of that carried on the previous year. The progeny of Cocks 113, 114, 115, and 116, were trapnested during the year. Cock No. 116 is the outstanding breeder, none of his pullets laying less than 100 eggs up to October 1, and 58 per cent of them laying over 180 eggs. Pullets hatched in the spring of 1927, are being trap-nested this year, but their records are not complete. Other pullets which were hatched in the spring of 1928 are being held and will be trap-nested the coming year. In addition to breeding White Leghorns for increased egg production, breeding work is being done using White Rocks and Barred Rocks in an endeavor to establish a White Rock high-egg producing strain.
