Two polymorphs ofN-(2-methoxyphenyl)-4-oxo-4H-chromone-3-carboxamide

The title compound, C17H13NO4, crystallizes in two polymorphic forms, each with two molecules in the asymmetric unit and in the monoclinic space groupP21/c. All of the molecules have intramolecular hydrogen bonds involving the amide group. The amide N atoms act as donors to the carbonyl group of the pyrone and also to the methoxy group of the benzene ring. The carbonyl O atom of the amide group acts as an acceptor of the β and β′ C atoms belonging to the aromatic rings. These intramolecular hydrogen bonds have a profound effect on the molecular conformation. In one polymorph, the molecules in the asymmetric unit are linked to form dimers by weak C—H...O interactions. In the other, the molecules in the asymmetric unit are linked by a single weak C—H...O hydrogen bond. Two of these units are linked to form centrosymmetric tetramers by a second weak C—H...O interaction. Further interactions of this type link the molecules into chains, so forming a three-dimensional network. These interactions in both polymorphs are supplemented by π–π interactions between the chromone rings and between the chromone and methoxyphenyl rings.

The asymmetric unit of the title inorganic–organic hybrid compound, (C10H16N2O)[CoCl4]·H2O, consists of a tetrahedral [CoCl4]2−anion, together with a [C10H18N2O]2+cation and a water molecule. Crystal cohesion is achieved through N—H...Cl, O—H...Cl and N—H...O hydrogen bonds between organic cations, inorganic anions and the water molecules, building up a three-dimensional network.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C19H16N2O5S, contains four independent molecules (A,B,CandD), with two molecules (BandD) displaying disorder in their methylsulfanyl groups [occupancy ratios of 0.797 (11):0.203 (11) and 0.85 (2):0.15 (2)]. The nitro groups are twisted slightly out of the planes of the 2-pyrroline rings to which they are bonded with dihedral angles of 10.17 (1), 8.01 (1), 9.44 (1) and 8.87 (1)° in moleculesA,B,CandD, respectively. The 2-pyrroline rings are almost orthogonal to the attached tolyl rings, forming dihedral angles of 73.44 (1), 81.21 (1), 88.18 (8) and 73.94 (1)° for moleculesA,B,CandD, respectively. A weak intramolecular O—H...O interaction is observed in moleculesBandC. The two hydroxy groups in each molecule are involved in intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonding. In the crystal, molecules are connectedviaO—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a complex three-dimensional network.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C15H12FN3S, consists of two independent molecules with comparable geometries. In one molecule, the 1,3-benzothiazole ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.011 Å) forms a dihedral angle of 19.86 (6)° with the phenyl ring. The corresponding r.m.s. deviation and dihedral angle for the other molecule are 0.014 Å and 22.32 (6)°, respectively. In the crystal, molecules are linkedviaN—H...N, C—H...F and C—H...N hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with a refined BASF value of 0.301 (2).

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C13H11ClN4O2S, contains two molecules (AandB), in which the dihedral angles between the 1H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridine system and terminal phenyl ring are 80.83 (10) and 62.34 (1)°. In the crystal,A–Bdimers are linked by pairs of N—H...N hydrogen bonds, which generateR22(10) loops. The dimers are linked by C—H...O and C—H...Cl interactions, generating a three-dimensional network. Aromatic π–π stacking interactions [shortest centroid–centroid distance = 3.5211 (12) Å] are also observed.

The title compound, C21H18N2O4, crystallizes with two independent molecules (AandB) in the asymmetric unit. In both molecules the oxazine ring has an envelope conformation with the hydroxyl-substituted C atom as the flap. The nitrobenzyl ring and the phenyl ring are almost normal to the mean plane of the benzooxazine ring system with dihdral angles of 85.72 (15) and 82.69 (15)°, respectively, in molecule A, and 85.79 (15) and 87.72 (15)°, respectively, in molecule B. The main difference in the conformation of the two molecules concerns the dihedral angle between the nitrobenzyl ring and the phenyl ring,viz.79.67 (18) in moleculeAand 71.13 (18)° in moleculeB. In the crystal, theAandBmolecules are linked by an O—H...O hydrogen bond. These units are then linkedviaC—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming sheets lying parallel to (010). Further C—H...O hydrogen bonds link the sheets to form a three-dimensional network. There are also O—H...π and C—H...π interactions present, reinforcing the three-dimensional structure.

The title compound, C16H14F5N5O5S [systematic name: 2-(2,2-difluoroethoxy)-N-(5,8-dimethoxy-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-c]pyrimidin-2-yl)-6-(trifluoromethyl)benzenesulfonamide], is used as a herbicide. The asymmetric unit of this structure comprises two independent molecules,AandB. The dihedral angles between the ring planes of the triazolopyrimidine ring systems and the benzene rings are 68.84 (7)° forAand 68.05 (6)° forB. In the crystal, weak intermolecular π–π interactions, with centroid–centroid separations of 3.4456 (17) and 3.5289 (15) Å and C—F...π [3.5335 (17) Å and 107.92 (13)°] contacts link adjacent molecules into chains along [001]. C—H...O and C—H...F hydrogen bonds link typeBmolecules into chains parallel to (100). The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C6H5Cl2NO2S, contains two molecules with similar conformations (r.m.s. overlay fit for the non-H atoms = 0.067 Å). Atoms attached to the pendent Csp3—S bond are arranged in a staggered conformation with one of the Cl atomsantito the C atom in the aromatic ring [C—S—C—Cl torsion angles = 178.41 (11) and −176.70 (13)°]. In the crystal, molecules are linked by C—H...N and C—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network, and weak aromatic π–π stacking is also observed [centroid–centroid separation = 3.8902 (17) Å].

The structure of the title compound, C21H40N4·2H2O, has been determined from synchrotron X-ray radiation data. The asymmetric unit comprises one 12-membered macropolycycle and two lattice water molecules. The macropolycycle contains two cyclohexane rings and one 1,3-diazacyclohexane ring, all in chair conformations. The C—N and C—C bond lengths are in the ranges 1.4526 (16)–1.4786 (17) and 1.517 (2)–1.5414 (17) Å, respectively. One intramolecular N—H...N hydrogen bond helps to stabilize the molecular conformation while medium-strength intermolecular N—H...O, O—H...N and O—H...O hydrogen bonds involving the lattice water molecules connect the components into a three-dimensional network.
