In the title complex, [Co(C6H5N2O2)2(H2O)2], the Co2+ cation lies on an inversion centre and the coordination geometry is distorted octahedral, with two N atoms and two O atoms from the 5-methylpyrazine-2-carboxylate ligands in the equatorial plane. The two remaining coordination sites are occupied by two water molecules. The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of O—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions, forming a two-dimensional supramolecular structure.

The mononuclear title complex, [Fe(CF3O3S)(C5H7O2)2(C4H8O)] or [Fe(acac)2(OTf)(THF)] (acac = acetylacetonate; OTf = trifluoromethanesulfonate; THF = tetrahydrofuran), (I), consists of one six-coordinate Fe3+atom in a slightly distorted octahedral environment [Fe—O bond-length range = 1.9517 (11)–2.0781 (11) Å]. The triflate ligand was found to be disordered over two sets of sites, with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.622 (16):0.378 (16). Weak intermolecular C—H...O and C—H...F hydrogen-bonding interactions generate a two-dimensional supramolecular structure lying parallel to (100). This is only the second crystal structure reported of a mononuclear bis(acetylacetonato)iron(III) complex.

The CdII atom in the title complex, [Cd(C8H5O3)2(C12H8N2)(H2O)], is coordinated by three O atoms of two formylbenzoate ligands, two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and one water molecule, giving rise to a trigonal–prismatic coordination geometry. Adjacent complex molecules are linked into a two-dimensional layer structure via hydrogen-bonding interactions.

In the title complex, [Ni(C12H9N2O3S)2(H2O)2]·4H2O, the NiII ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidentate chelating 4-[(pyridin-2-yl)methylideneamino]benzenesulfonate ligands and two O atoms from cis-related water molecules in a slightly distorted octahedral environment [Ni—N = 2.071 (3)–2.121 (3) Å and Ni—O = 2.071 (2) and 2.073 (3) Å]. In the crystal, the coordinated water molecules and the four water molecules of solvation are involved in intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions with water and sulfonate O-atom acceptors, giving a three-dimensional framework structure.

The crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C6H4NO2)2(H2O)2]·2H2O, has been reinvestigated with improved precision [previous reports: Chang et al. (1972). J. Coord. Chem. 2, 31–34; Lumme et al. (1969). Suom. Kemistil. B, 42, 270]. In the title compound, the Co atom is located on an inversion center and its coordination can be described as slightly distorted octahedral, equatorially trans-coordinated by two N and O atoms of two picolinate ligands and axially coordinated by two O atoms of the water molecules. Intermolecular O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions result in the formation of an intricate three-dimensional network.

The title compound, poly[[diaqua-1κ2O-tetrakis(μ3-pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylato)-2:1:2′κ10N,O2:O2′,O3:O3′;2:1:2′κ8O3:O3′:N,O2-diiron(III)strontium(II)] dihydrate], {[Fe2Sr(C7H3O4)4(H2O)2]·2H2O}n, which has triclinic (P\overline{1}) symmetry, was prepared by the reaction of pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, SrCl2·6H2O and Fe(OAc)2(OH) (OAc is acetate) in the presence of imidazole in water at 363 K. In the crystal structure, the pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylate (pydc2−) ligand exhibits μ3-η1,η1:η1:η1and μ3-η1,η1:η1,η1:η1coordination modes, bridging two FeIIIcations and one SrIIcation. The SrIIcation, which is located on an inversion centre, is eight-coordinated by six O atoms of four pydc2−ligands and two water molecules. The coordination geometry of the SrIIcation can be best described as distorted dodecahedral. The FeIIIcation is six-coordinated by O and N atoms of four pydc2−ligands in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. Each FeIIIcation bridges two neighbouring FeIIIcations to form a one-dimensional [Fe2(pydc)4]nchain. The chains are connected by SrIIcations to form a three-dimensional framework. The topology type of this framework istfj. The structure displays O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonding.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ag3Yb(C5HN2O4)2(H2O)2]n, contains three AgIions, one YbIIIion, two imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylate ligands and two coordinating water molecules. The YbIIIatom is eight-coordinated, in a bicapped trigonal prismatic coordination geometry, by six O atoms from three imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylate ligands and two coordinating water molecules. The two-coordinated AgIions exhibit three types of coordination environments. One AgIatom is bonded to two N atoms from two different imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylate ligands. The other two AgIatoms are each coordinated by one O atom and one N atom from two different imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylate ligands. These metal coordination units are connected by bridging imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylate ligands, generating a two-dimensional heterometallic layer. These layers are stacked along theaaxisviaO—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions to generate a three-dimensional framework.

In the title complex, [NiCl(C9H11NO)2(H2O)3]Cl, the NiII ion is six-coordinated by one Cl atom [Ni—Cl = 2.3712 (11) Å], two O atoms from two 4-(dimethylamino)benzaldehyde (L) ligands and three water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry [Ni—O = 2.076 (3)–2.094 (3) Å]. The mean planes of the two L ligands make a dihedral angle of 65.8 (1)°. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O—H...Cl hydrogen bonds link cations and anions into two-dimensional sheets parallel to the ab plane, with the L ligands protruding above and below.

The molecule of the title complex, [Ni2(C21H15N3O5)2(H2O)4]·4C3H7NO, is located on an inversion centre. This results in a dimeric NiIIcomplex, with the two NiIIatoms bridged by phenolate O atoms. The tridentate ligand is chelated to each NiIIatomviaone N and two O atoms of the iminolate form of the hydrazide moiety, which has the same conformation as the free ligand. The coordination geometry around each NiIIion is slightly distorted octahedral. A supramolecular three-dimensional architecture is created by dominant intermolecular O—H...N, O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions. These are augmented by two C—H...π interactions and a π–π interaction with a centroid–centroid distance of 3.681 (2) Å.
