In poly[aqua(μ3-benzene-1,4-dicarboxylato-κ5 O 1,O 1′:O 1:O 4,O 4′)[2-(pyridin-3-yl-κN)-1H-benzimidazole]cadmium(II)], [Cd(C8H4O4)(C12H9N3)(H2O)] n , (I), each CdII ion is seven-coordinated by the pyridine N atom from a 2-(pyridin-3-yl)benzimidazole (3-PyBIm) ligand, five O atoms from three benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate (1,4-bdc) ligands and one O atom from a coordinated water molecule. The complex forms an extended two-dimensional carboxylate layer structure, which is further extended into a three-dimensional network by hydrogen-bonding interactions. In catena-poly[[diaquabis[2-(pyridin-3-yl-κN)-1H-benzimidazole]cobalt(II)]-μ2-benzene-1,4-dicarboxylato-κ2 O 1:O 4], [Co(C8H4O4)(C12H9N3)2(H2O)2] n , (II), each CoII ion is six-coordinated by two pyridine N atoms from two 3-PyBIm ligands, two O atoms from two 1,4-bdc ligands and two O atoms from two coordinated water molecules. The complex forms a one-dimensional chain-like coordination polymer and is further assembled by hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a three-dimensional network.

The crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(C6H4NO2)2(H2O)2]·2H2O, has been reinvestigated with improved precision [previous reports: Chang et al. (1972). J. Coord. Chem. 2, 31–34; Lumme et al. (1969). Suom. Kemistil. B, 42, 270]. In the title compound, the Co atom is located on an inversion center and its coordination can be described as slightly distorted octahedral, equatorially trans-coordinated by two N and O atoms of two picolinate ligands and axially coordinated by two O atoms of the water molecules. Intermolecular O—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions result in the formation of an intricate three-dimensional network.

The polymeric title compound, {[Co(C15H9NO4S)(H2O)3]·H2O}n, consists of chains along [001] made up from Co2+ions bridged by 10-methylphenothiazine-3,7-dicarboxylate anions. The Co2+ion, coordinated by three O atoms from two different carboxylate groups and three water molecules, displays a distorted octahedral environment. In the crystal, π–π interchain interactions, with centroid–centroid distances of 3.656 (2) and 3.669 (2) Å between the benzene rings of the ligands, assemble the chains into sheets parallel to (100). O—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions between the coordinating water molecules and carboxylate O atoms link the sheets into a three-dimensional network.

The CoIIion in the title complex, [Co(SO4)(C13H8N4)(H2O)2]n, has a slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment formed by two O atoms from two symmetry-related bridging sulfate ligands, two N atoms from a bis-chelating 1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline (IPL) ligand and two O atoms from coordinated water molecules. The bridging sulfate ligands connect CoIIions to form a one-dimensional chain along theb-axis direction. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O—H...O, O—H...N and N—H...O hydrogen bonds link the chains into a three-dimensional network.

The structures of two hydrated salts of 4-aminophenylarsonic acid (p-arsanilic acid), namely ammonium 4-aminophenylarsonate monohydrate, NH4+·C6H7AsNO3−·H2O, (I), and the one-dimensional coordination polymercatena-poly[[(4-aminophenylarsonato-κO)diaquasodium]-μ-aqua], [Na(C6H7AsNO3)(H2O)3]n, (II), have been determined. In the structure of the ammonium salt, (I), the ammonium cations, arsonate anions and water molecules interact through inter-species N—H...O and arsonate and water O—H...O hydrogen bonds, giving the common two-dimensional layers lying parallel to (010). These layers are extended into three dimensions through bridging hydrogen-bonding interactions involving thepara-amine group acting both as a donor and an acceptor. In the structure of the sodium salt, (II), the Na+cation is coordinated by five O-atom donors, one from a single monodentate arsonate ligand, two from monodentate water molecules and two from bridging water molecules, giving a very distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment. The water bridges generate one-dimensional chains extending alongcand extensive interchain O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions link these chains, giving an overall three-dimensional structure. The two structures reported here are the first reported examples of salts ofp-arsanilic acid.

The title CdIIcompound, {[Cd2(C13H7NO4)2(H2O)4]·5H2O}n, was synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of Cd(NO3)2·4H2O and 5-(pyridin-4-yl)isophthalic acid (H2L). The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically independent CdIIcations, two deprotonatedL2−ligands, four coordinated water molecules and five isolated water molecules. One of the CdIIcations adopts a six-coordinate octahedral coordination geometry involving three O atoms from one bidentate chelating and one monodentate carboxylate group of two differentL2−ligands, one N atom of anotherL2−ligand and two coordinated water molecules. The second CdIIcation adopts a seven-coordinate pentagonal–bipyramidal coordination geometry involving four O atoms from two bidentate chelating carboxylate groups of two differentL2−ligands, one N atom of anotherL2−ligand and two coordinated water molecules. EachL2−ligand bridges three CdIIcations and, likewise, each CdIIcation connects to threeL2−ligands, giving rise to a two-dimensional graphite-like 63layer structure. These two-dimensional layers are further linked by O—H...O hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. The photoluminescence properties of the title compound were also investigated.

The title compound,catena-poly[[[diaqua(methanol-κO)copper(II)]-μ-N-(4-methylpyrimidin-2-yl-κN1)pyrazin-2-amine-κ2N1:N4] [[aqua(aqua/methanol-κO)(perchlorato-κO)copper(II)]-μ-N-(4-methylpyrimidin-2-yl-κN1)pyrazin-2-amine-κ2N1:N4] tris(perchlorate) methanol monosolvate 1.419-hydrate], {[Cu(C9H9N5)(CH3OH)(H2O)2][Cu(C9H9N5)(ClO4)(CH3OH)0.581(H2O)1.419](ClO4)3·CH3OH·1.419H2O}n, is a one-dimensional straight-chain polymer ofN-(4-methylpyrimidin-2-yl)pyrazin-2-amine (L) with Cu(ClO4)2. The complex consists of two crystallographically independent one-dimensional chains in which the CuIIatoms exhibit two different octahedral coordination geometries. TheLligand coordinates to two CuIIcentres in a tridentate manner, with the pyrazine ring acting as a bridge linking the CuIIcoordination units and building an infinite one-dimensional chain. Extensive hydrogen bonding among perchlorate anions, water molecules andLligands results in three-dimensional networks.

The structures of the LiIand NaIsalts of 2-thiobarbituric acid (2-sulfanylidene-1-3-diazinane-4,6-dione, H2TBA) have been studied. μ-Aqua-octaaquabis(μ-2-thiobarbiturato-κ2O:O′)bis(2-thiobarbiturato-κO)tetralithium(I) dihydrate, [Li4(C4H3N2O2S)4(H2O)9]·2H2O, (I), crystallizes with four symmetry-independent four-coordinated LiIcations and four independent HTBA−anions. The structure contains two structurally non-equivalent LiIcations and two non-equivalent HTBA−anions (bridging and terminal). Eight of the coordinated water ligands are terminal and the ninth acts as a bridge between LiIcations. Discrete [Li4(HTBA)4(H2O)9]·2H2O complexes form two-dimensional layers. Neighbouring layers are connectedviahydrogen-bonding interactions, resulting in a three-dimensional network. Poly[μ2-aqua-tetraaqua(μ4-2-thiobarbiturato-κ4O:O:S:S)(μ2-thiobarbiturato-κ2O:S)disodium(I)], [Na2(C4H3N2O2S)2(H2O)5]n, (II), crystallizes with six-coordinated NaIcations. The octahedra are pairwise connected through edge-sharing by a water O atom and an O atom from the μ4-HTBA−ligand, and these pairs are further top-shared by the S atoms to form continuous chains along theadirection. Two independent HTBA−ligands integrate the chains to give a three-dimensional network.

The structure of the title compound,catena-poly[[cadmium(II)-di-μ-chlorido-μ-(1,4-diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-1-carboxylato)] [[aquachloridocadmium(II)]-di-μ-chlorido] dihydrate], {[Cd(C8H15N2O2)Cl2][CdCl3(H2O)]·2H2O}n, contains two kinds of independent one-dimensional chain,viz.{[Cd(C8H15N2O2)Cl2]+}nand {[CdCl3(H2O)]−}n, and uncoordinated water molecules. Each CdIIcation in the {[Cd(C8H15N2O2)Cl2]+}nchain is octahedrally coordinated by two pairs of bridging chloride ligands and two O atoms from different bridging carboxylate groups. CdIIcations in the {[CdCl3(H2O)]−}nchain are also octahedrally surrounded by four bridging chloride ligands, one terminal chloride ligand and one coordinated water molecule. Hydrogen bonds between solvent water molecules and these two independent chains generate a three-dimensional framework containing two-dimensional zigzag layers.<!?tpb=18pt>
