Crystal structures of twoN-(aryl)arylsulfonamides, namely, 4-methoxy-N-(4-methylphenyl)benzenesulfonamide, C14H15NO3S, (I), andN-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-methoxybenzenesulfonamide, C13H12FNO3S, (II), were determined and analyzed. In (I), the benzenesulfonamide ring is disordered over two orientations, in a 0.516 (7):0.484 (7) ratio, which are inclined to each other at 28.0 (1)°. In (I), the major component of the sulfonyl benzene ring and the aniline ring form a dihedral angle of 63.36 (19)°, while in (II), the planes of the two benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 44.26 (13)°. In the crystal structure of (I), N—H...O hydrogen bonds form infiniteC(4) chains extended in [010], and intermolecular C—H...πarylinteractions link these chains into layers parallel to theabplane. The crystal structure of (II) features N—H...O hydrogen bonds forming infinite one dimensionalC(4) chains along [001]. Further, a pair of C—H...O intermolecular interactions consolidate the crystal packing of (II) into a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

The crystal structures of twoN-(arylsulfonyl)arylamides, namelyN-(3-fluorobenzoyl)benzenesulfonamide, C13H10FNO3S, (I), andN-(3-fluorobenzoyl)-4-methylbenzenesulfonamide, C14H12FNO3S, (II), are described and compared with related structures. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 82.73 (10)° in (I) compared to 72.60 (12)° in (II). In the crystal of (I), the molecules are linked by C—H...O and C—H...π interactions, resulting in a three-dimensional grid-like architecture, while C—H...O interactions lead to one-dimensional ribbons in (II). The crystals of both (I) and (II) feature strong but non-structure-directing N—H...O hydrogen bonds withR22(8) ring motifs. The structure of (I) also features π–π stacking interactions.

The crystal structures of threeN-arylsulfonyl-4-fluorobenzamides, namely 4-fluoro-N-(2-methylphenylsulfonyl)benzamide, C14H12FNO3S, (I),N-(2-chlorophenylsulfonyl)-4-fluorobenzamide, C13H9ClFNO3S, (II), andN-(4-chlorophenylsulfonyl)-4-fluorobenzamide monohydrate, C13H9ClFNO3S·H2O, (III), are described and compared with related structures. The asymmetric unit of (I) contains two independent molecules (AandB), while that of (II) contains just one molecule, and that of (III) contains a molecule of water in addition to one main molecule. The dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 82.83 (11)° in moleculeAand 85.01 (10)° in moleculeBof (I), compared to 89.91 (10)° in (II) and 81.82 (11)° in (III). The crystal structure of (I) features strong N—H...O hydrogen bonds between theAandBmolecules, resulting in anR44(16) tetrameric unit. These tetrameric units are connected into sheets in thebcplane by various C—H...O interactions, and adjacent sheets are further interlinkedviaC—H...πarylinteractions, forming a three-dimensional architecture. The crystal structure is further stabilized by πaryl–πaryland S=O...πarylinteractions. In the crystal of (II), molecules are connected intoR22(8) andR22(14) dimersviaN—H...O hydrogen bonds and C—H...O interactions, respectively; the dimers are further interconnectedviaa weak C=O...πarylinteraction, leading to the formation of chains along [1-10]. In the crystal of (III), N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds involving both the main molecule and the solvent water molecule results in the formation of sheets parallel to thebcplane. The molecular shape of the title compound, C16H12O7, is bent around the central CH2—O bond. The two benzene rings are almost perpendicular to one another, making a dihedral angle of 87.78 (7)°. In the crystal, each molecule is linked to three others by three pairs of O—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming undulating sheets parallel to thebcplane and enclosingR22(8) ring motifs. The sheets are linked by C—H...O hydrogen bonds and C—H...π interactions, forming a three-dimensional network.

In the title hydrate, C24H30N2O4·H2O, the organic molecule adopts anEconformation with respect to the azomethine double bonds. The cyclohexane ring is in a chair conformation. The dihedral angle between benzene rings is 79.6 (2)°. Two intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bonds are present. In the crystal, the components are linked by O–H...O hydrogen bonds and weak C—H...π interactions, generating a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

ThreeN-aryl-2,2,2-tribromoacetamides, namely, 2,2,2-tribromo-N-(2-fluorophenyl)acetamide, C8H5Br3FNO, (I), 2,2,2-tribromo-N-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]acetamide, C9H5Br3F3NO, (II) and 2,2,2-tribromo-N-(4-fluorophenyl)acetamide, C8H5Br3FNO, (III) were synthesized and their crystal structures were analysed. In the crystal structure of (I), C—Br...πarylinteractions connect the molecules into dimers, which in turn are connectedviaBr...Br contacts [3.6519 (12) Å], leading to the formation of a one-dimensional ladder-type architecture. The crystal structure of (II) features chains linked by N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds. Two such chains are interlinked to form ribbons through Br...Br [3.6589 (1) Å] and Br...F [3.0290 (1) Å] interactions. C—Br...πaryland C—F...πarylinteractions between the ribbons extend the supramolecular architecture of (II) from one dimension to two. In (III), the molecules are connected intoR22(8) dimersviapairs of C—H...F interactions and these dimers form ribbons through Br...Br [3.5253 (1) Å] contacts. In the title molecule, C16H12Cl2O2Se, the C—Se—C angle is 100.05 (14)°, with the dihedral angle between the planes of the benzene rings being 69.92 (17)°. The average endocyclic angles (Se—Car—Car; ar = aromatic) facing the Se atom are 120.0 (3) and 119.4 (3)°. The Se atom is essentially coplanar with the benzene rings, with Se—Car—Car—Cartorsion angles of −179.2 (3) and −179.7 (3)°. In the crystal, molecules are linkedviaC—H...O hydrogen bonds forming chains propagating along thea-axis direction. The chains are linkedviaC—H...π interactions, forming a three-dimensional network.

In the title compound, C26H21N3O5S, the thiazole ring is nearly planar with a maximum deviation of 0.017 (2) Å, and is twisted with respect to the three benzene rings, making dihedral angles of 25.52 (12), 85.77 (12) and 81.85 (13)°. In the crystal, weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds and C—H...π interactions link the molecules into a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. Aromatic π–π stacking is also observed between the parallel nitrobenzene rings of neighbouring molecules, the centroid-to-centroid distance being 3.5872 (15) Å.

The crystal structures of three isomeric compounds of formula C14H13Cl2NO2S, namely 3,5-dichloro-N-(2,3-dimethylphenyl)-benzenesulfonamide (I), 3,5-dichloro-N-(2,6-dimethylphenyl)benzenesulfonamide (II) and 3,5-dichloro-N-(3,5-dimethylphenyl)benzenesulfonamide (III) are described. The molecules of all the three compounds are U-shaped with the two aromatic rings inclined at 41.3 (6)° in (I), 42.1 (2)° in (II) and 54.4 (3)° in (III). The molecular conformation of (II) is stabilized by intramolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds and C—H...π interactions. The crystal structure of (I) features N—H...O hydrogen-bondedR22(8) loops interconnectedvia C(7) chains of C—H...O interactions, forming a three-dimensional architecture. The structure also features π–π interactions [Cg...Cg= 3.6970 (14) Å]. In (II), N—H...O hydrogen-bondedR22(8) loops are interconnectedviaπ–π interactions [intercentroid distance = 3.606 (3) Å] to form a one-dimensional architecture running parallel to theaaxis. In (III), adjacentC(4) chains of N—H...O hydrogen-bonded molecules running parallel to [010] are connectedviaC—H...π interactions, forming sheets parallel to theabplane. Neighbouring sheets are linkedviaoffset π–π interactions [intercentroid distance = 3.8303 (16) Å] to form a three-dimensional architecture.

In the title moleclue, C16H14O4, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 16.1 (3)°. The methoxy group is essentially coplanar with the benzene ring to which it is attached, with a C—O—C...;C torsion angle of 5.5 (9)°. In the crystal, molecules are linked by O—H...O and bifurcated O—H...(O,O) hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The structure was refined as a two-component inversion twin.

In the title compound, [Fe(C44H24Cl4N4)(H2O)2](SO3CF3)·C8H8O3·2H2O, the FeIIIcation is chelated by the four N atoms of the deprotonated tetrakis(4-chlorotetraphenyl)porphyrin (TClPP) and further coordinated by two water molecules in a distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal, the cations, anions, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde and water molecules of crystallization are linked by classical O—H...O hydrogen bonds and weak C—H...O and C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. The crystal packing is further stabilized by weak C—H...π interactions involving pyrrole and benzene rings. π–π stacking between parallel benzene rings of adjacent 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde molecules is also observed, the centroid–centroid distance being 3.8003 (13) Å. The three F atoms of the anion are disordered over two sets of sites, with a refined occupancy ratio 0.527 (12):0.473 (12). The O atom of one water molecule of crystallization is also disordered over two positions in an occupancy ratio of 0.68 (5):0.32 (5).
