An algorithm of weighted k-means clustering is improved in this paper, which is based on improved genetic algorithm. The importance of different contributors in the process of manufacture is not the same when clustering, so the weight values of the parameters are considered. Retaining the best individuals and roulette are combined to decide which individuals are chose to crossover or mutation. Dynamic mutation operators are used here to decrease the speed of convergence. Two groups of data are used to make comparisons among the three algorithms, which suggest that the algorithm has overcome the problems of local optimum and low speed of convergence. The results show that it has a better clustering.

Aiming at the characteristic of medical images, this paper presents the improved genetic simulated annealing algorithm with K-means clustering analysis and applies in medical CT image segmentation. This improved genetic simulated annealing algorithm can be used to globally optimize k-means image segmentation functions to solve the locality and the sensitiveness of the initial condition. It can automatically adjust the parameters of genetic algorithm according to the fitness values of individuals and the decentralizing degree of individuals of the population and keep the variety of population for rapidly converging, and it can effectively avoid appearing precocity and plunging into local optimum. The example shows that the method is feasible, and better segmentation results have got to satisfy the request for 3D reconstruction, compared with k-means image segmentation and genetic algorithm based image segmentation.

The increase in the number of documents has aggravated the difficulty of classifying those documents according to specific needs. Clustering analysis in a distributed environment is a thrust area in artificial intelligence and data mining. Its fundamental task is to utilize characters to compute the degree of related corresponding relationship between objects and to accomplish automatic classification without earlier knowledge. Document clustering utilizes clustering technique to gather the documents of high resemblance collectively by computing the documents resemblance. Recent studies have shown that ontologies are useful in improving the performance of document clustering. Ontology is concerned with the conceptualization of a domain into an individual identifiable format and machine-readable format containing entities, attributes, relationships, and axioms. By analyzing types of techniques for document clustering, a better clustering technique depending on Genetic Algorithm (GA) is determined. Non-Dominated Ranked Genetic Algorithm (NRGA) is used in this paper for clustering, which has the capability of providing a better classification result. The experiment is conducted in 20 newsgroups data set for evaluating the proposed technique. The result shows that the proposed approach is very effective in clustering the documents in the distributed environment.

With the increase of production of electrical vehicles (EVs) and battery packs, lithium ion batteries inconsistency problem has drawn much attention. Lithium ion battery imbalance phenomenon exists during three different stages of life cycle. First stage is premanufacturing of battery pack i.e., during the design, the cells of similar performance need to be clustered to improve the performance of pack. Second is during the use of battery pack in EVs, batteries equalization is necessary. In the third stage, clustering of spent lithium ion batteries for reuse is also an important problem because of the great recycling challenge of lithium batteries. In this work, several clustering and equalization methods are compared and summarized for different stages. The methods are divided into the traditional methods and intelligent methods. The work also proposes experimental combined clustering analysis for new lithium-ion battery packs formation with improved electrochemical performance for electric vehicles. Experiments were conducted by dismantling of pack and measurement of capacity, voltage, and internal resistance data. Clustering analysis based on self-organizing map (SOM) neural networks is then applied on the measured data to form clusters of battery packs. The validation results conclude that the battery packs formed from the clustering analysis have higher electrochemical performance than randomly selected ones. In addition, a comprehensive discussion was carried out.
